i have on occasion in the past but i think it is necessary if you really want a good film. so in all future productions i plan to make storyboards.

You have to have a plan on how to set the movie out, whether it's the script, or a storyboard, or jotted down on the back of a beer-mat! Whatever you do, you have to remain focused on the chapters of the film, otherwise you'll start going off at a tangent, and lost the plot somewhere along the way.
Storyboards are good, cuz they are simple to follow.

We usually storyboard any stunts or special effect shots but never the whole thing. We've started to script though, which was beyond us not so long ago.
I still believe the best moments come out of improvisation however.

yeah i agree. it is very difficult to storyboard an enitre movie. i have a lot of ideas in my head usually so i only like to storyboard certain scenes. it's only a guideline after all.

i think storyboard are more for people other than the film maker so that they can invision what the film maker invisions.

I usualy plan the shoots out, but have only storyboarded one flick, which I haven't shoot yet, but it will help me get cash to whip out 250 index cards with the entire flick drawn out on them.
