If you score it first, it shouldn't hurt that much. I would suggest over the back. Over the head would hurt, leg wouldn't be to bad, arm would be pointless, etc. Over the back is the best way to take it. But overall, it doesn't hurt that much. However, you must score it beforehand to get a better result.
Score the back, and use 3/8 inch drywall, and the fall to the floor will hurt muchmore....Originally posted by Eim3r

yeah i agree. if you set it up right then it will break without pain but still look real. just remember that safety comes first when pulling stunts like taht. since drywall is so cheap you might want to do it several times to make sure you get the shot right.

And make sure your actor knows where to hit the board, you will need some studs to support the boards at the seams at least, after you tape and compound the seams, and apply paint it might be a bit difficult to see where to hit it, so good marks are important. Not a good idea to run studs every 16 inches like you would for a real wall....

Drywall is basically a sheet of plaster, covered by lining paper on either side!
The paper actually gives the sheet added strength, holds it all together.
When you score the sheet, you're breaking the paper barrier, and creating a weak-spot.
If you're really having difficulties with breaking through, as well as scoring the dry wall, go around the back, and notch out a hole, by scoring deeply into the plaster - A utiloity knife will do this, also a drill bit is a good way to do it, so long as you don't go all the way through!

Moderating behind the bushes!
yea, and judging by this, especially when you need to be slammed through a wall...lol... hmm..i'm having some ideas now, could it be possible to make a pillar out of drywall that you could say punch through at the right part and have it hollow and the rest filled so it looks as if you broke through? That was sorta confusing lol

Your aiming for that idea matrix like when smithpunched the wall. what I would do is build the Drywall piller conecting it with two by fours, and or duct tape. Then on the reverse side prescore where he is going to hit, and posably have almost toataly cut away so that his fist gores right through it, and do the same on the other side just have him punch from the inside and use a cut, I think that is what you were asking about.
Yea you hit it right on the mark Thanks! It is a Matrix movie, so yea we want sommme stuff to link the two. We're not doing bullet time though, that would just be a straight copy...and we want something a little different, you can see the movie poster at www.pauer.us/theimperialpost/MatrixRebirth.jpg if you'd like. I'm so glad I foudn this sight lol.
