Oh MY GOSH!! - old age make-up
How do you make someone (18-19 years old) look like he's a scruffy, 30 year-old father?
I want him to look rough, and ragged (he drink lot's of alcohol and has a bad history behind him, but he's trying to turn his life around.)
Anyone have ANY tips? Any little makeup/ clothing tips? (Or any other tips for that matter...)
?
Thanks alot,
Colin

RE: Oh MY GOSH!!
well get him some crappy looking worn clothing thats a bit behind the times or kind of timeless generic (I would go to goodwill) if your actor is able to grow any kind of facial hair get him to. Go to a theater store and get some gray die and put some light gray patches in his hair a kind of salt and pepper thing going. After that you should talk to a makeup person.
RE: Oh MY GOSH!!
if you want to be really technical you can wet his face and they dry it with a hairdryer while stretching his skin and then apply a thin layer of
flour/water mixture (so it is very runny) and then let hihs face relax while he dries, butt hat may make him look like a 90 y/o.
Not a lot of 30 y/o people look any different to their 19 y/o selves (little changes) if he grew a beard, he'd look 30.

30 is still pretty young. Change it to 40 and it might actually mean something. Give him crows feet, make him a little bald, get him to wear really old unfashionable clothing (checks, sandles, grey cargo shorts with a leather belt) or if u want him more scruffy (navy shirt that has a few holes through it, track suit pants, make sure hes fat, no actual hair style).SE7 wrote:How do you make someone (18-19 years old) look like he's a scruffy, 30 year-old father?

Its mainly acting that will pass him off as on old fogie, but dont try too old or hell look like a 20 yr old with a broken spine.

Wow.. thanks guys.. You're great help! Yea, I think I'll make the character 40. Good idea!
Hey angusware, u wet the skin, then apply the mixture, then dry? or wet skin, dry, then apply mixture, then let it sit?
Anyways, thanks again everyone... You guys are awesome!
Cheers,
Colin

I think this topic is futile - I'm 34 and I only look 25!

latex stippling on someone young doesn't do much, the skin's too tight, and if it DOES work, he'll look much older than you want too... maybe an appliance simulating crows feet and bags under the eyes, and if you can convince your actor, shave his hairline to make it receed a little. the rest is pretty much basic makeup, to subtily make his traits harder.
but yeah, 30-40yo is pretty hard to simulate... how about getting an actor who's actually that old? an uncle, a friend's dad, whatever...

This is funny. The aging is way overdone and he looks like Emperor Palpatine.

Haha! Wow... I didn't know people are still commenting on this old thing. (I appreciate it, I'm just surprised!)
The only reason I titled it "OMG!" is to make people open (and to tick people off.. just kidding! Don't ban me!)
That stipple makeup was the coolest thing! Haha, and that was the funniest thing Epsilon! Silly MattHawkin users.
Anyways.. yeah, thanks for the stuff, but unfortunately I'm not filming this movie... (sigh) I moved away from my friends who are involved in helping do filmmaking. Although, I'm driving back down for summer, so maybe I'll make it then!
Cheers.
