video capture card for a 8mm hi-8 camcorder
is this possible, are there video capture cards for this camcorder or are they all the same, can anyone with more knowledge please help me??

There are a whole series of capture cards and devices for analog cameras, most act as an analog to digital convertor. Dazzle has some, but stay away from their really low wend devices. The 'industry standard' are from canopus. Plan on paying $150.00 USD and up for one that will give you full frame rates and resolutions. Also, make sure your PC has a compatible interface. USB 1.0 is not fast enough to handle the data rates of DV, you want to go to IEE1394 ( firewire) or USB 2.0 or an internal card that plugs into the PCI bus of your PC.

for analogue i use my trusty never-say-die Matrox G400TV capture card...man what a solid card!
