do it for johnny

Post by skywilson »

Let me tell you a story about a man called Scott Baxendale.

For over 30 years he was one of the worlds best Luthiers. He made guitars for some of the greatest musicians in the world.

For a time he owned one of the most respected guitar makers in US history, Mossman Guitars. He was so well respected that he became responsible for the care and restoration of instruments owned by legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, Buddy Holly and John Lennon.

However, none of it was destined to last.

Music, drugs, brushes with those who are now considered Rock Gods. It was an untold, unknown Rock and Roll story from the working man's perspective

His brilliant ascension and eventual fall from grace sounded like a movie from the very first sentence.

Filmmakers/musicians Haylar Garcia and Scott Baxendale are bringing this epic story, which takes place over 30 years in Rock & Roll history, and chronicles the true-life events of Scott Baxendale's life to the screen.

As the team of independent filmmakers began to envision the script's jump to film, they knew first and foremost that not only would they need an incredible actor to achieve the twisting lead of Scott Baxendale, but the film would require something more from it's leading man.

After researching all that they could about countless musically inclined actors, the name "Johnny Depp" could not be denied. But was this choice even a choice at all?

Could these two filmmakers and their small indie production team find a way to get the attention of one of the busiest, most sought after and most elusive thespians in the world? They needed a plan...

That’s where I come in.

I have been asked by Haylar Garcia to help in the UK leg of a documentary called “Do it for Johnnyâ€

Cool, but Red, Sky is a girls name...........I am woman..........hear me roar!

and as for repeating this post, the intention was indeed to get as many people interested as possible. Not everyone on the net goes to the same forums, so I post pretty much everywhere. Its what is known as publicity!

but please do have a look at www.doitforjohnny.com they have a lot more info on the project and you never know, you may like what you see!

Man, I thought you were a guy too, hah! Anyway I agree with Redrobin, let's see it when it's done, I'd be cool to see security say "No! Get the hell outta here!" Hah! But, seriously I'd be cool to see Johnny walkin down the street and... "JOHNNY!! HEY JOHNNY!!!" Then he'd say "What!? Great, sommore crazy fans."

The film doesn't sound very good, maybe we'll ask Johnny Depp to be in Alien Dawn 3! :D

NEWS UPDATE

The director, Haylar Garcia, and his crew are going to be in the L.A area from monday 8 November for a week.

They are going to be spending the week in a vehicle of some kind they call "the Turtle". Now, Haylar has said in his progress diary on the doitforjohnny.com website that he will mostly be living off canned food for the week.

So I send out this plea to anyone from the LA area, to please please make sure that if you do run into the team, to please make sure they are fed properly. All foods are welcome. Sandwiches, hot drinks, fresh food, fruit, vegetables, you know, good food.

I will be putting updates of where you can find them as the week goes on, but pleae lend them a hand in their time of documentry Indie film need.

thank you very much.

NEW UPDATE on doitforjohnny .

Haylar says that he can most likely be found in the "Star Walk" area of west hollywood.

they are driving around in a really small Toyota that is tan with a camera as a hood ornament. By now, people would probably be able to smell it from around a corner (especially as it has had 3 grown men camping in it for goodness knows how long - so if anyone wants to get them some of those little smelly tree things, it would probably help more than the food)

thank you all for your e-mails, i have been keeping haylar up to speed and he would like me to say thanks to you all

Sounds like a great project. The film...and the documentary is always a cool way of letting the world see the time and effort that goes into the creative process....not just anyone can make a film....kinda like some of the people on this site...they have the preconcieved notion that anyone can make a film, and only a select few can pull it off with such grace.
"They're people who only want to be involved in filmmaking to get rich, get famous, or get laid. They know as much about filmmaking as George W. Bush knows about hand-to-hand combat"- Jim Jarmusch

THANKS Themovieman :)

NEW UPDATE
YUMPIN’ YIMMINIE !!!. I just finished my two-day nap after returning yet again (this time out for 6 days) from Hollywood for some amazing interviews, although I’m sad to say we did not find Johnny. We did make some good connections and of course got some great education about how to further our quest. We got some cool street interviews from some celebs outside the AFI film fest, but were brutally turned away by security, which would not let fans within 150 feet of the red carpet during the official Finding Neverland Premier at the Academy. Which wasn’t so disappointing seeing that Johnny did not attend. Dustin Hoffman was the only celebrity gracious enough to keep it real by dashing across Wilshire Blvd to greet and thank the waiting fans YOU RULE DUSTIN! We were fortunate enough to get an interview with a producer who had been developing a movie based on the life of the Marx Brothers who had Johnny interested and all but lined up, but then lost him to “Piratesâ€

it sounds great, but the majority of the people on this site are around 15 years of age, and probably don't have a clue to where he is! It's worth a shot though I guess..

Almost - Ivonne!

Hmmm, wasn't Sky the name of Des and Daphne's baby in Neighbours? Or am I possibly confusing that with Joe Mangle and Melanie - UGH! Melanie! Sweet girl, but what an awful laugh she had! I wonder what happened to them all - Probably murdered by Madge in a plot were Harold Bishop drove her to a nevous breakdown!...

...incidental music...

...do de do... ...do de do...
... do de do de do de do de doooo...

..Neiiiiiiighbours, Everybody loves good neiiiighbours....

Ah yes, we used to love that show!
