Wire-fu
Does anyone know anything about wire fighting? I don't need so much a fighting setup as a flying one, but i'd like to base it on the same principles.
well first of all you must before decide what movments will be taking place... this will determine the appopriate rig for you to use. If there are just jumps flips kicks etc then a normal Y configuration will be appropriate however if you are running up walls etc then you will need to change the rig obviously. You must find a harness that is appropriate for the movment aswell... if it is jumps etc then a normal waist harness should be sufficient however if there are flips etc you may require a full body harness. It will all depend on your movment. usually though it is a basic rockclimbers harness with one steel wire from either side (wrapped in material as not to hurt hands etc) in a Y configuration imagining the bottom most part of the Y being a person and the two arms of the Y being attached to a steel bar so that acrobatics are much easier.
as a personal note try not to get the actors to hold the wires when shooting the stunt its a dead give away... aka matrix.

There is a picture of a harness similar to the one I am using at this website

But you see... jumping off a trampoline, flying 20 feet, then landing on your belly is likely to rupture organs and fracture bones. No gym mat can save you with a stunt like that!

I was on a set of indie few years ago. Stunt (and also director, lead actor and producer) jump from about 6-7 meters. He landed on few layers of cardboard boxes (about 2m high) cover with gym mates (about 15cm) but he didn't fell on stomach. It would be dangerous.
