hello,
The templates should be printed on A3 paper. Just checked the tutorial and I don't make that very clear. Opps. Will update now.
I would recommend making one first because there are a few tricky bits you probably want to try before mass producing them
The hardest bit is the barrel assembly because I had trouble with the MDF splitting when trying to drill the larger holes in it. I have modified my original design and this is reflected in the tutorial.
Just corrected a mistake in the 'example picture'. It was launching the wrong one.
I have a completed prop but haven't painted it yet. My girlfriend is a bit of an artist so I am going to get her to do wood effect on the stock and hand grips.
Overall I am pleased with it but it is probably slightly too big and slightly too wide. If I was doing another one I might consider reducing the dimensions of the MFD bits by 10 percent. But when it is finally painted it is going to look cool
Good luck.

I did think of doing an A4 version because I realised not everyone would be able to print A3 (I can only do it at work).
If you have got CorelDraw you may be able to take the template file and transfer the shapes onto A4 sized pages.
If it causes people big problems I may go ahead and do an A4 version. No point having one of my main tutorials unusable by most of my visitors.

gun nut
hello, i am grant's gun nut.
i have the corel draw file but i don't have corel draw or anything like it.
what other ways can i go about printing out the A4 templates?
i could probably print out the A3 file at uni but that would take alot more frigging around than printing A4 at home.
i am impressed by the pictures of the imitation ak's on the ak page. they are far better than the p***, tight-a***, kiddies guns that grant has got us using now.

Hello, glad you like the tutorial.
At the top of the tutorial there is a link to a zip file
A4 Zip File (100kb)
This file contains the A4 templates as normal GIF pictures. These can be printed out on A4. The exact scale isn't vital as long as you print them out using the same method.
Use any graphics package or at a push M$ Word.
Hope this helps replace your kiddie guns

i am not sure if i am printing the templates out correctly.
i have been printhing each template to fit an A4 size page.
i am not printing the default size of the templates, i have been checking an option in the print dialog to give the templates the same physical dimensions of an A4 size page.
is this the correct way to print all the templates?

i have printed out the templates at a4 size but i don't think i have done it correctly.
some of the templates have been stretched and don't look right.
should i print the templates out at default size instead of 'making' them fit a4 size.
by fitting a4 size i mean filling the a4 paper with the template as opposed to simply printing the template out at it's current size.

I have just checked the A4 templates. I have screwed up the GIF file export by the looks of it. Damn
All the images are the same size except I have exported only the objects from CorelDraw (rather than the whole page) so most of them are disorted. Sorry about that. I will export and post as soon as possible. Hopefully at the weekend. I will post here when I have updated them.
Sorry for wasting your time. I'll try and get them right this time
