XL1 i hear its fantastic what others are there
i hear about XL1s beeing a fantastic cam which it is, but i never hear about anyother only like the PD 150 i think.
is XL1 the best?

It also depends what you want to do, PD-150/170 is much better in low light thatn the XL-1, Panny DVX100 does natice 24 p and cinegamma but has really lousy low light response. There is no such thing as the perfect all around cam unfortunately. I've personally never liked the looks of the canon images, too soft, and if you adjust the presets to sharpen, it starts to look like a Roger Rabbit set IMO, but again to each his own. I shoot a vx2100 now, but I'm starting to look at some of Panny's new line for next year in case I need another write-off for taxes LOL...

How do you people afford these uber-expensive cameras? Do you buy them out of the money you make on makin stuff, do you rent them or are you just all mad enuf to blow $1,000+ on a camera at once?
lol or is there some kinda deal you all did with a manufaturer and got them all discounted as a job-lot?
