:( What a major let down. I thought the new XL2 would be High Definition. Oh well, I can still dream about the new Sony HDV camocrder thats going to be out maybe within 1-2 years. :D

Someone I know has a GL1. Just today he said that he could get an XL1 now for the price of his GL1 when it came out.

No, when the GL2 came out, the GL1 was discontinued. Therefore, inventory of the product had to go, thus lowering the price. Many GL1 users were also selling their GL1's in hopes of getting a GL2.
Erm... yeah...

That's way to much camera for my needs and 99% of everybody else's on this fourm.
$5000 bucks and it dosen't even have an LCD screen. What a rip-off!

Well that's becase they have banks of monitors set up behind the camera that the director and stage crew watch.

I use the LCD screen on my camera plenty, especially when filming fast-paced action stuff. It's just that $5000 dollars for a camera that dosen't have and LCD screen seems preety steep, you would really have to be making money with your films to afford somthing like that.

That's what they do with XL1's also. That is what is expected.

i just checked yesterday. B&H has it for $4,999. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/control ... 002&is=REG

Still a reduction from the $5,499 MSRP. Available in September. Another abservation: under "LCD Screen" in the specs on B&H, it says 2.5 inch with VF magnifier removed. Interesting...
