Wondering about Contact Lense Prices.

Post by Solomon Cloud »

I said before about my character with no eye's and have decided to go the Contact Lense route to black out my eyes.

Plus I will still have vision, so yah.

I found this site that looks very good and they have made lenses for various movies and commercials, but they seem kinda pricey.

Still I want the eye part of my character to be the most detailed as that is his identity.

tell me if these are good prices

thanks and all!

Woah! Those do seem a bit pricey. Although, I don't exactly know what specialized contact lenses run for these days, let alone regular contact lenses.

I wear contact ocassionally. Those fancy ones tend to be cheaper than actual prescription lenses. You can get them for about $25 a pair from an optometrist.

One thing you could try to do is digitally black out your eyes. That's what they did for Agent Sands in Once Upon A Time In Mexico and I thought it worked out ok.

Over here, some tattoo shops also sell specialist contact lenses, probably for amateur film-makers and S&M weirdos I guess. I believe they're not that expensive, but I'm afraid I can't give an exact price.

thanks for the info.

here are some answers and replies to comments made.

1. yes this character is going to be used in other movies. 9 to be exact, these are called chapters each ranging from 1-2 hours and length and are expected to be all finished in 10 years. (if we work fast). And he is pretty much the main character throughout the epic.

2. I would like to know exactly how they did it in OUATM but don't know if I can devote that much time to it for an hour long video, were the character is shown quite a few times (actually most of the time). I also like to take a more physical aproach. the only real effects we are going to use are things such as muzzle flashes and keying a green screen out for blowing up model cars and houses. I like the style made by Sam Raimi with such ideas as Ram-O-cam and the likes.

well I gotta get some sleep and goto whatever I do everyday. Work my a** off planning budgets and making money at a very bad wage.

Nono... the big ones are $300, the normal ones are $200. Those you can get for $25 but I have seen them for less. I cannot imagine the larger lenses costing more than $50/pair. Anything much more than that is quite insane, indeed.

nah i have alot of other projects but this one is kinda my vision.
I tend to write scripts alot more then I actually film. So I have a huge bank of different stories I would like to tell. (and hopefully I can make some of the ones that would cost more then my cars).

but yah, I really think this certain 9 film epic style thing could really be noticed by the higher ups in independent film.

Well it sorta to me sounds like something if it is any good, that you might be able to propose to HBO as a mini series. That would be awesome if you could get HBO's funding.....
