Hey carnage, i saw your films, like dorkman lightsabre one its really good, im trying to make a lightsabre clip i can do lightsabres but i have no poles i wanted to ask you how thick are your poles and how long? After that ill make a handle and lightsabre blah blah the end can you help me plz? Also how did you do that hole in the guys leg when hes hit with the saber?

Oh yes i used a 10 ft pole and it was a good 6 inch think! Big a** poles. I love the big a** poles! The bigger the better i say! If it were up to me, id get a 40 ft pole! But i didnt have any 40ft poles i only had a couple of 10ft ones. Cause i love the big a** poles.
Go down to your hardware store and say, "hey im looking for some big a** poles." They should show you a range of big a** poles and you can....

Wow. I coudl have mistaken you for the real Carnage...

Anyway. I made my own lightsabers. Mine were a couple of broom handles covered in white paper. They were about 6 feet long and about an inch thick. They were a little to heavy, but I didn't want them to break.

anyway - well done ryan - your site and effects movies blew me away - the ryan vs dorkman is one of the best lightsaber fights ive ever seen (including the official movies!)

How do you make the handles though? I have poles need a tutorail or something on how to make realstic looking handels

holy s*** are you that stupid? you can't even make a prop? can you honestly say hmm now i need to make a lightsaber base... should i use paper mache and silver spray paint or marbles and tin foil LOL get a brain and work it out for yourself. i could understand if this was a software problem or a tutorial on how to do some thing in after effects but this is basic common sense cr**... you want tips on how to make a lightsaber prop? goto your local craft store and ask the old lady behind the counter im sure she will help

yeah just use wood or something.

In my lightsaber clips
(http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~cs00aad/downlo ... rFight.mpg) i just use bokkens (wooden martial arts swords) wihich have no lightsaber handles - but they still look good!

ok building a particle accelerator, yeah ok i can see the need for a tutorial on that

but something as simple as a little silver colored prop? don't you find that in the least a bit unessesary? i mean you could buy one from a toy store. it is simple knowledge... and people without simple knowledge are dumb... not calling this guy dumb maybe he just didnt think about it enough before posting this thread no offence but i dont see why your backing this guy up and looking past the fact that it is a really REALLY basic thing to make. two toilet rolls and some magic markers LOL

Anyway, to answer the original question, you could also go out to the store and but one of those toy lightsabers, and just replace the plastic beam with a CG beam in post production.

After watching the movie, in the credits, it credits the hole to a yuban cofee and dr. sumthing dry ease markers. I think they may have rubbed cofee into it and used markers to shape and accent it. then just edited really fast and added the effects.
