My Script, feel free to change it

Post by Zacatac927 »

Ok, so i didn't mention it was my pirate script... but hopefully it will be a good read...

write new stuff... anything that i ad.. you will be a screenwriter part in the final film

that may mean some dough

Opening music. Fade in. MONTAGE:

INT. PIRATE SHIP HOLD MORNING

A pair of booted feet going downstairs into the
hold of a ship. The persons hand lighting a fuse.

EXT - OCEAN - MORNING

Open to a wide shot, A rowboat slowly floats away
from a sinking Sailing Ship, a pirate ship to be
exact. A Pirate fumbles on the rowboat searching
the water around the boat for something. As he
goes up to the boat, leans way over the boat the
back pushes down, the pirate whips around almost
falling in to see what the movement was. A young
pirate pulls his body onto the edge of the small
launch. REYNOLDS, the first pirate gets up, re-situates
his coat, and walks wobbling to the back of the
boat, unsheathing his sword. He approaches, AARON,
the wet pirate, and places the point of the cutlass
underneath AARON'S chin. AARON looks up, REYNOLDS
gives a stare, then extends a hand, pulling away
the sword. REYNOLDS pulls AARON up, then lets go and
goes about back to the bow of the launch and leans
over, once again searching for something. AARON,
still in shock looks at REYNOLDS strangely.

AARON
What are you...

REYNOLDS
(Cuts in) Oars... look for oars.

AARON, still a strange look on his face, at first
surviving, then the strange behavior of his new
mate, leans over the boat and begins searching for
oars.

TITLES begin appearing. PIRATES: RUN TO BLACK

CUT TO: AARON rowing, REYNOLDS is standing on the
bow of the boat, one foot on the edge, looking out
onto the sea. He shakes his head as though coming
back to reality, turns around, looks at AARON, and
walks to the Stern

REYNOLDS
Continue.

AARON
Which way?

REYNOLDS
Straight Ahead! If your Captain gives
you an order that makes no sense, you
continue on the same course!

AARON
Captain? You are suddenly the Capitan of
this launch?

Gives a Smile and straightening of his coat.

REYNOLDS
(With a sound of giddy authority)
Aye! Now Row!

AARON
But...

REYNOLDS
My Ship! Row!

AARON looks down and begins rowing, REYNOLDS goes
back to the bow and sits, slyly opens his coat and
pulls out a map and compass. Since AARON has his
back to REYNOLDS, he does not see this. REYNOLDS
looks at the map, then to the compass.

CU: Compass shows a few degrees off of the route.

REYNOLDS see this and slowly looks back, then
slowly bends over the side of the boat, swishes
the water with his hands, slowly turning the boat.
He sits back up and smiles.

CUT TO:

Heat Haze, AARON sweating and rowing, REYNOLDS up
in the bow, still gazing in front of him. AARON
puts down the oars

AARON
Where are we headed?

REYNOLDS puts up his fingers pointing forward.
AARON begins to move his mouth to speak, but
closes it, catching himself.

CUT TO:

AARON still sweating, continues rowing but sees
REYNOLDS re-situating himself sitting, AARON
catches a glimpse of the map and compass.

AARON stands up

AARON
How do you know the direction we are
going in?

REYNOLDS thinks for a second, sticks his fingers
in his mouth. pull them out... motions the wind
coming at it with his other hand.

REYNOLDS
Winds comin' from shore!

AARON unsheathes his sword.

AARON
Give it up!

REYNOLDS grabs a gold locket and chuck it to the
stern, but slips into the water. AARON Rushes to
grab it but it has already sank, he whips around
only to be met with an oar to the side of the
head.

EXT. BEACH - EVENING

SHOT OF: Boat pulling up on beach. Aaron jumps
awake, takes a deep breath, and looks around.
Reynolds silently pulls the boat up on the beach.

AARON
Where are we?

REYNOLDS
We are approximately somewhere in the
middle of the Atlantic, give or take a
few degrees.

He walks onto shore. AARON sits up in the boat,
and has flashes of what happened. HE decides to
take action, he jumps out of the boat, and flips
into the water. He jumps up, soaking wet,
unsheathes his sword a second time and begins to
go up against REYNOLDS

REYNOLDS
You ok?

AARON
You have a map! A map of What?

REYNOLDS stands up, facing AARON, no sword, just
and overpowering sense of anger

REYNOLDS
If this said map had any importance to
surviving, you would have known about
it. But since we are here, no way of
using it, there is not point in usurping
my power by taking the map... if you
want something, it'll be this compass

AARON pauses.

AARON
Well then give it!

REYNOLDS
No! Find your own!

AARON advances upon REYNOLDS, REYNOLDS reacts by
pulling out his sword.

REYNOLDS
You don't want to be doing this.

AARON

CUT TO:

EXT. BEACH - NIGHT

............CHANGE SCENE..........

SHOT OF: Small campfire in the middle of the
beach. Aaron throws some more logs on the fire as
Reynolds sits staring into the flames. Aaron
continues to try to make conversation.

AARON
It's really a long story how I got to be
second mate... I first went to sea under
old Cap'n Stearns - You've heard of him,
right?

REYNOLDS
No.

AARON
Oh, well, I shipped out under him as a
powder monkey. Then he caught a bit of
railing in the eye during our fight with
the Manticore. Ever seen that ship?

REYNOLDS
No.

AARON
Anyways, after that I jumped to the
Falcon, and was in the raid on Port
Royal. You remember, the one in the
winter of '83?

REYNOLDS
No.

AARON
Well anyhow, after that I got off the
Grey Goose and signed up on the Falcon,
which is of course at the bottom of the
ocean out there, and worked my way up.
So that's my tale. What about you?

REYNOLDS
I've been around.

AARON
I bet you have some good stories, eh?

There is a long pause. Neither pirate says
anything.

AARON
[clearing throat] Well... I reckon I'll
turn in for the night.

REYNOLDS
Aye.

Both pirates lie down a good distance apart, on
opposite sides of the fire. Fade out.

EXT. CAMPFIRE - MIDNIGHT

The fire has burned low. Suddenly, Aaron sits up
and looks around. He sees that Reynolds is gone
from his spot by the fire.

AARON
Reynolds? Crickets. [cont'd] Where are
you?

A stick SNAPS in the Beach. Aaron jumps up and
whirls to face the sound.
[cont'd] Who's there? Silence.

Aaron reaches down, grabs his sword from the
ground, and pulls it out of the sheath. He winces
as it makes a loud metallic ringing. Aaron throws
some more wood on the fire, still glancing about
and keeping his sword at the ready. [cont'd] Show
yourself! Reynolds steps out from behind a tree.

REYNOLDS
[sarcastically] Here I am... sir. Aaron
sighs with relief and puts away his
sword.

AARON
Where have you been? I was about to kill
you, I thought you were an enemy!

REYNOLDS
Calm down, I was just taking a...

Reynolds goes and lies down on the opposite side
of the fire again. As he does so, a small compass
on a string slips out of his open-collared shirt.
CU- Compass as it dangles from his neck. It has
strange designs on it. CU- Aaron's face as he
looks at the compass. ECU- Aaron's eyes with the
compass and fire reflecting in them. Quickly,
Reynolds takes the compass and tucks it back into
his shirt. He rolls over with his back to Aaron. Aaron
lies down too, but facing Reynolds, holding his
sword close to him. He is clearly distrustful of
the older pirate. Fade out.

EXT. CAMPFIRE - DAWN

The fire has gone out completely, and both Aaron
and Reynolds are asleep. The first rays of
sunlight come peeking through the trees, and the pirates
begin to stir. Reynolds rubs his face, stands up,
and buckles on his sword.

REYNOLDS
I'm going out hunting.

AARON
With just a sword?

REYNOLDS
Aye. I can manage well enough.

He walks off into the dunes. Aaron sits for a
minute, then plunges after him.

EXT. BEACH - DAWN

The handheld camera looks around, trying to find
Reynolds. We see him about 100 yards away,
studying a map and holding the compass. He starts to
walk away, still looking at the map. Aaron chases
after him.

AARON
Hey! Stop!

Reynolds turns and faces him, arms folded.
[cont'd] [as he catches up to Reynolds] What the
blazes are you doing? Reynolds doesn't respond,
but shoves the map back into his shirt and walks
away.

AARON
Don't walk away from me! I want an
explanation!

Reynolds continues walking.

In anger, Aaron draws his sword and charges at
Reynolds' exposed back. Reynolds hears him coming,
and whips out his sword just as Aaron strikes.
Their blades meet with a loud clash. The two
pirates fight over hill and dale, slashing
vegetation and trampling the ground. Reynolds
backs Aaron up against a tree and makes a cut at
his head. Aaron ducks, and the blade hits the tree
instead. Reynolds makes a diagonal slash, but
misses, again hitting the tree. He makes a third
swipe, but Aaron dodges out of the way. SHOT OF:
Tree. There is a Zorro-like "Z" carved into it.
Aaron begins driving Reynolds backwards. They come
out of the dunes and onto the beach. The camera
focuses on them fighting from the chest up, then
pulls back to reveal that they are dueling in
waist-deep water in a lagoon. A shark fin is
coming towards them from deeper water. The pirates
take one look then run screaming to shore. They continue
fighting until Reynolds trips over a root and
falls. Instantly, Aaron pounces and stabs him.

AARON
Ha!

Reynolds slumps over. Aaron takes the map and
compass from him, and unfolds the blood-stained
map. CU- Map. It is a drawing of an island. In one
section, there is a strange symbol, identical to
the one on the compass. Aaron checks his heading
then begins walking along the beach. After walking
a little ways, he sees a figure ahead in the
distance, bending over something. [cont'd] Ahoy
there! The figure stands up and starts coming
towards him. As Aaron gets closer, we see that it
is a wild-looking man, wearing tattered clothes
and carrying a bag and stick.

CASTAWAY
Hullo there. Hungry?

AARON
Not really, no. What are you doing on
this island?

CASTAWAY
Now that's a good question. I'm glad you
asked.

Abruptly, the castaway sits down and begins
doodling in the sand. There is a long silence,
then he looks up. [cont'd] I don't suppose you're
hungry?

AARON
No, I'm not. Actually, I'm looking for
something.

CASTAWAY
[meaningfully] Hmm... aren't we all..

Aaron takes this as a hint that the castaway knows
more than he is letting on.

AARON
You know about it, then?

CASTAWAY
About what?

AARON
The treasure hidden here. If you'll help
me find where it was hidden, I'll give
you half.

CASTAWAY
Oh, that. Well, no need to go finding
it. I'll just show you.

He gets up and begins walking. Aaron follows. They
come to a tree marked with a cross.
[cont'd] Under that tree.

AARON
Do you have a shovel?

CASTAWAY
Sure do.

Neither of them move for a moment.

AARON
Could I... borrow it?

CASTAWAY
Oh, of course. Be right back.

He goes off into the trees. Aaron is too impatient
to wait, and starts digging with his hands. Pretty
soon the castway comes back, carrying a crude
wooden shovel. Aaron takes it and begins digging
in earnest, dirt flying everywhere. Time passes.
MONTAGE: Aaron digging, the hole about 2 feet deep.
The castaway is watching interestedly. Aaron
digging, the hole now about 3 feet deep. Castaway
is twiddling his thumbs. Aaron digging, hole now
almost to his head. Castaway is lying on his back
staring at the clouds.

CASTAWAY
I'll just make some food, eh?

He gets up and disappears into the dunes again. He
comes back with an armload of wood and starts a
fire. We see that one of the pieces of wood has
the word "Falcon" on it, and looks suspiciously
like part of a rowboat. Aaron doesn't notice
anything.

AARON
Are you sure the treasure's here?

CASTAWAY
Oh, no, it's not here. I stored it up at
my camp. [motions towards dunes]

AARON
What!? He gets out of the hole.

CASTAWAY
[w/ his back to Aaron] Oh yes. Had to
keep it safe. But come... it's time for
food.

He turns around, eyes glinting crazily. He charges
at Aaron, waving Aaron's own sword.

AARON
What are you doing!?

CASTAWAY
Making soup. No, wait... stew. I think
stew would be better.

He attacks Aaron with the sword. Aaron defends
himself with the shovel, but after a few blows it
shatters, leaving him at the mercy of the castaway.
The castaway prepares to strike the final blow,
but suddenly his eyes widen and we see a sword
protruding from his chest. He falls down and we
see Reynolds standing there, smiling grimly.

REYNOLDS
That's twice.

AARON
I don't understand... why did you save
me again?

REYNOLDS
Enough blood has been spilled over-and
on- this map [holds up map]. [Beat] So,
let's get that treasure.

AARON
But you just Killed him!

REYNOLDS
Oh....right... well thats different

The pirates walk off together. Fade out.

EXT. BEACH - DAY

The pirates are sitting on the beach, a large
treasure chest between them. The wreckage of their
boat is all round them, and they are both staring
out to sea.

AARON
So, when you say, "No key", you mean...

REYNOLDS
Yup.

AARON
And you're sure we can't break through 4
inches of iron?

REYNOLDS
Yup.

AARON
Well, I'm sure we'll be rescued soon.
(He smiles confidently.)

Reynolds just gives him a look. Fade out. Closing
credits

EXT. BEACH - DAY

AARON
Arrr, that stupid castaway... why did he
have to go and lose the key?

REYNOLDS
Did you just say, "Arrr"?

AARON
Yeah... it's what pirates say, right?

REYNOLDS
Never. It's unprofessional.

AARON
But I thought-

REYNOLDS
Trust me, the only pirates who say
"arrr" are the fake ones. Seriously...
"Arrr"? You can be so much more
threatening than that. Just say, "I'll
pull your intestines out through your
nose."

AARON
That's... gross.

REYNOLDS
Well it doesn't have to be exactly that.
You could say something else. Just,
please... make it sound more evil than
"arrr".

AARON
Ok, fine! No more "arrr". Fade out.

It's...er...quite long. Maybe if you release it in segments/scenes or whatever, people will be more inclined to read it. I read the opening bits and looked very well written.
