A painful dinner... (my first film)

Hi everybody! I'm from mexico!
this is my first film, and I would like an opinion from you.
I've seen the critics you do and I think they are very good and it help for an improvement in future projects.

the music is not mine but I Always wanted to make a film using it so forgiveme for that in advance, I promise not to use it again...

It was interesting. You might want to shorten it up a little though. Some people might be bored. Also if the target viewers are spanish or english you might want subtitles. I know spanish so I could understand it, so that is an suggestion. The music was pretty sweet.

The Good:

Nice array of shots.
Good acting.
Good tension building.
Great ending!!!

The bad:

Nothing fresh in your idea.
Some of the shots had awkward zooms in them.


Overall a good film. This is a nice platform to build off to create something a but more challenging in script terms. Great ending, I was expecting something, but I didn't know what. Oh and she chopped those veges up fast!!

I rate this 3.5 out of 5. Good work.

I understood it and I don't speak spanish. No subtitles are necessary.

That was great! Definately a great start... nice concept.
The shots were good, maybe just need to be that little bit smoother... the music was good. Try to make your sound consistent, there were times when the camcorder mic was buzzing, and it cut out quickly or came in quickly and made it sound unprofessional.

Nice idea. Try to break away from some of the cliches because too many cliche shots can make it a bit dodgy looking.

I'm with DarkElastic no need to put in subtitles, were not stupid and we know whats going on (because whatever they say communication is only 10% speaking or something?).

Good, nice varied, shots, great tension, great filming from outside. Good blade flash at the camera. That was all great. However at the beggining it was slightly unsteady in parts (I'm talking about the inside shots, not the ones you did on purpose slightly shaky outside). I presume you don't have a tripod or steadycam. That is one thing you should invest in if you have a bit to spare, they're quite cheap. Or, if you want to be cheap, you can rest the camera on things like tables, lean against walls when your filming etc. to make it slightly more steady., film over shoulder as well, if possible.
Anyway, yeah, nice end, good punches. I did suspect, like DarkElastic something was going to happen like that. Out of interest what did the last bit in Spanish mean? (I'm leanring it at skool and I'm totally cr** at it). Now you need to move onto somein' challenging.

I couldn't help but laugh as soon as I heard the Halloween music. Other than that is was pretty suspenseful, but your slow motion cuts were TOO slow. Slow them down, but not THAT much.
