You will need to put lots of work to film this.

Already, you need locations for a home, another house, and a school.

You will need many, many actors.

You will either need to rent out several emergency vehicles, use 3D, or a combination.

You need a news van, or at least a plain van with a dish satellite attached to the top with a news logo on the side, painted on or by 3D/photoshop

You will need guns.

Use tripods, camera stabilizers, etc to make this great.

i would like to watch it when its done for sure.

I first am going to talk to the police department and my school.

I need to convince my school b/c its a catholic private school and there are alot of swear words in this script.

Heck yeah.

Good luck with that - my school is Catholic private too, so we couldn't have any swearing. No blood when we cut a teacher in half with a lightsaber too.

maybe you can film with the swear words, and censor them out for any copies seen by the school.

What equipment do you have? This is what will often make a good film a great one.

Can you accomplish this film?

If you can answer yes to all these questions, then I feel that you can accomplish this film:

Can you...

1) get enough actors to film in a believable way (as in, not 3 cops and 5 people in the crowd -- more like 10 cops and a crowd of 25)

2) get people who can act believably to star in the film (I was lucky with the one I'm working on, no one has ever acted, but since there is no real dialogue yet, we can get away with it. For the scene with large amounts of speaking and memorization that I film Monday, I have gotten am actor from our thespian society to act for us)

3) Get enough realistic props --as in no BB guns or airsoft. At Dick's Sporting goods, $100 or so will get you a realistic airsoft with no orange on the front. It uses CO2, so the sound and recoil when firing nothing are realistic.

4) Get enough people to help film

5) Get permission to film at school and at 2 separate houses

6) Edit the film in a satisfactory way

7) Do you have enough equipment? You will need a few cameras, the ability to use the focus to your advantage, microphones, dollies, tripods, stabilizers, etc (these are helpful in making the film a step above amateur.

8 Get the unnecessary vehicles, or realistic 3D models you can incorporate.

Try to accomplish as much as you can on this list. The more of this you can do, the better the film will be.

Others, please comment as well for tips on filming this, getting permission, vehicles, equipment, etc.

BLACK SCREEN.

THE FILM OPENS WITH THE SHOT OF THE OUTSIDE OF A HIGH SCHOOL. MIKE, MID TEENS, DARK HAIR, SCRUFFILY DRESSED, AND HUNCHED OVER ASSENDS THE STAIRCASE LEADING TO THE MAIN DOOR.

INSIDE THE SCHOOL CORRIDOR.

THE CAMERA FOLLOWS MIKE AS HE WALKS OVER TO HIS LOCKER. HE SLOWLY OPENS THE DOOR, INSIDE OF HIS LOCKER, ROTTEN EGGS HAVE BEEN SMEARED ALL OVER HIS BOOKS.

A GROUP OF THREE BOYS, JOHNNY, (BLONDE HAIRED TALL WELL DRESSED), PETE (DARK HAIRED, DARK CLOTHING), RAY (FAIR HAIR, BASEBALL JACKET) WALK UP BEHIND MIKE.


JOHNNY
What is that smell?

RAY
It smells like somethin’s gone off….
Man I feel like I’m gonna puke.

JOHNNY
Wait….I know what it is….
It’s……

ALL THREE BOYS TOGETHER: It’s Mikie!!!!!!!!!!

PETE
Didn’t your mother ever teach

JOHNNY

Mikie’s not got a mother,
She topped herself, six months

RAY
LAUGHS

JOHNNY WALKS OVER TO MIKE AND TAKES HOLD OF HIM BY HIS JACKET.

JOHNNY
Maybe you should top yourself
Too?

MIKE
Let go of me.

PETE
So he has got a voice today!

THE BELL GOES.

JOHNNY
Better run along mikie, you
Don’t want to be late for class.

JOHNNY LETS GO OF MIKE AND PUSHES HIM AGAINST THE LOCKER.
HE SWIPES THE CONTENTS OF MIKE’S LOCKER ONTO THE FLOOR.
ALL THREE LAUGH. AND WALK DOWN THE CORRIDOR.

RAY
TURN’S BACK.
Hey Mike….see you at recess!

MIKE BENDS DOWN NEXT TO THE PILE OF BOOKS ON THE FLOOR. HE STARES AFTER THEM.

INSIDE A CLASS ROOM.

ALL THE STUDENTS ARE BUSY WRITING. THE CAMERA TRAVELS DOWN THE ROWS OF STUDENTS AND STOPS AT THE BACK OF THE CLASS.

MIKE IS SAT DRAWING. HE IS DRAWING A CARTOON OF A BOY DRESSED IN BLACK. HE IS ARMED WITH VARIOUS WEAPONS.

THE BELL GOES.

ALL OF THE STUDENTS PACK AWAY THEIR BELONGINGS AND LEAVE THE ROOM.

MIKE SLOWLY GETS UP. HE WALKS TO THE DOOR. JOHNNY, PETE AND RAY ARE STOOD TALKING WITH A GROUP OF BOYS.

MIKE SLIPS OUT OF THE ROOM AND RUNS DOWN THE CORRIDOR.

IN THE SCHOOL LIBRARY.

MIKE IS SAT HIDDEN AWAY BEHIND A ROW OF BOOKSHELVES, HE IS BUSY DRAWING IN A SKETCH BOOK . HIS FRIEND KAI, LONG HAIR, SKATER STYLE CLOTHES, WALKS UP TO HIM.

KAI
Hey, I’ve been looking all over for
You.

MIKE
LOOKS UP
What’s up?



KAI
I was told to give you this.
HANDS MIKE A PIECE OF PAPER

MIKE
What is it?

KAI
SHRUGGS.

MIKE
OPENS THE PAPER AND READS IT .

KAI
Well?

MIKE
It’s that girl…Katie,
She wants me to meet her.

KAI
Katie Fisher….You do
Know who she hangs out
With right…. Johnny Miller!

MIKE

KAI
So what are you going to do?

MIKE
SHRUGGS.

KAI

KAI WALKS ROUND AND LOOKS AT MIKE’S DRAWING. IT IS OF HIM SHOOTING JOHNNY.

MIKE NODS HE PACKS UP HIS SKETCH BOOK AND STANDS UP.

MIKE
I’ll catch you later.

HE WALKS PAST KAI AND LEAVES THE LIBRARY.

LATE AFTERNOON.

MIKE IS WALKING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL ROAD. HE WALKS PAST A ROW OF RUN DOWN HOUSES.

HE TURNS THE CORNER AND WALKS DOWN A NARROW ALLEYWAY. HE IS CONFRONTED BY JOHNNY, PETE AND RAY.

JOHNNY
Hey Mike we missed you at recess.

MIKE
Look I don’t want any more trouble

MIKE TRIES TO SIDE STEP JOHNNY, BUT PETE AND RAY BLOCK HIS WAY.

JOHNNY
Oh But I do!

PETE REACHES OUT AND GRABS HOLD OF MIKE’S SCHOOL BAG. HE RIFLES THROUGH IT AND FINDS MIKE’S SKETCH BOOK.
HE OPENS IT AND STARTS FLICKING THROUGH THE PAGES.


PETE
TO JOHNNY
Hey look what I’ve got here.

JOHNNY TAKES THE SKETCH BOOK FROM PETE, HE LOOKS THROUGH IT.

JOHNNY
TO MIKE
So you think you’re an artist hu?

MIKE
Please, just give it back.

JOHNNY POINTS TO THE DRAWING OF MIKE SHOOTING HIM

JOHNNY
Is that supposed to be me?
HE MOVES CLOSER TO MIKE.
Is that what you want to do to me?

MIKE
Please…….

JOHNNY
LAUGHS.
You don’t have the guts.

JOHNNY RIPS THE DRAWING OUT OF THE SKETCH BOOK, AND TEARS IT IN HALF. HE DOES THE SAME WITH THE OTHER SKETCHES AND THROWS THEM ON THE GROUND.

MIKE BENDS DOWN AND STARTS TO PICK UP THE DRAWINGS.

JOHNNY
Like I said…you’re a spineless
Little s***.
HE KICKS MIKE IN THE RIBS.

MIKE CRIES OUT, AND SLUMPS OVER.
PETE AND RAY JOIN IN AND START KICKING MIKE.
JOHNNY WITHDRAWS AND WATCHES THEM.

MIKE
What… have I ever done to you?
……please .……stop…… .

JOHNNY
LAUGHS.

PETE AND RAY WITHDRAW, LEAVING MIKE DAZED ON THE GROUND.

JOHNNY GOES THROUGH MIKE’S SCHOOL BAG. HE TAKES OUT A WALLET AND OPENS IT. HE TAKES OUT THE MONEY AND THROWS THE WALLET AT MIKE.

JOHNNY
TO RAY AND PETE
Come on we’ve gotta split.
TO MIKE.
We’ll see you tomorrow…..
Lets go.


MIKE WATCHES AS JOHNNY, PETE AND RAY SAUNTER DOWN THE ALLEYWAY.

MIKE SLOWLY PULLS HIMSELF UP. HE PICKS UP HIS BELONGINGS AND SLOWLY WALKS DOWN THE ALLEYWAY. HE STOPS OUTSIDE OF HIS HOUSE, WHICH IS SHABBY AND RUN DOWN.

HE SLOWLY OPENS THE DOOR AND GOES INSIDE, CLOSING THE DOOR BEHIND HIMSELF.

NIGHT TIME

MIKE’S BEDROOM.


MIKE IS SAT ON THE FLOOR. HIS TORN SKETCH BOOK IS ON THE FLOOR NEXT TO HIM.

MIKE IS STARING BLANKLY AT THE TV.

IN THE BACKGROUND, SHOUTING CAN BE HEARD.

MIKE TURNS THE TV’S VOLUME UP LOUDER. HE REACHES INTO HIS POCKET AND TAKES OUT THE NOTE FROM KATIE. HE READS IT THROUGH AGAIN.

HE REACHES OUT FOR HIS PHONE AND DIALS.


OUTSIDE OF A BOWLING ALLEY

PETE, RAY AND JOHNNY (WITH HIS ARMS AROUND KATIE, DARK HAIRED, PETITE) ARE STOOD LEANING UP AGAINST JOHNNY’S CAR TALKING.

KATIE’S MOBILE PHONE RINGS.

JOHNNY
Who the hells that?

KATIE BREAKS HIS HOLD AND WALKS A SHORT DISTANCE AWAY.

KATIE
Hello…?

MIKE
(PAUSES)
Hi Katie? It’s Mike.

KATIE
Look Mike….I can’t talk
Right now….

MIKE
But I got your message….

KATIE
Meet me after school tomorrow
By the side gate…we’ll talk then ok?

MIKE

OUTSIDE OF THE BOWLING ALLEY.

JOHNNY WALKS UP TO KATIE.

JOHNNY

JOHNNY SNATCHES THE PHONE FROM KATIE.

KATIE

JOHNNY

HE PUTS HIS HAND UP TO KATIE’S THROAT AND SQUEEZES IT.

MIKE’S BEDROOM.

THE DOOR BURSTS OPEN. MIKE’S FATHER STORMS IN, WITH A BOTTLE OF BEER IN HIS HAND.

FATHER
What you doin’ in here….
You lazy good for nothin’

MIKE TRIES TO RUN TO THE DOOR BUT HIS FATHER TAKES HOLD OF HIM AND SLAMS HIM UP AGAINST THE WALL.

FATHER
You’re a waste of space
You know that?

MIKE
(WEAKLY) Yes

FATHER
(SARCASTICALLY)
Yes….yes (YELLING) Yes.

HE PUNCHES THE WALL NEXT TO MIKE’S HEAD.

MIKE SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY AND SLUMPS TO THE FLOOR.

HIS FATHER STAGGERS OUT OF THE ROOM.

MIKE STARES AFTER HIM.

AT SCHOOL.

THE FOLLOWING DAY.

MIKE IS STOOD WAITING AT THE SIDE GATE, HE HAS GOT A BLACK EYE FROM YESTERDAY.
HE NERVOUSLY LOOKS AT HIS WATCH.

KATE WALKS ROUND THE CORNER AND STOPS INFRONT OF MIKE.

KATIE
I’m sorry about last night…God Mike
What’s happened to you?

MIKE
It’s nothing. Does Johnny know

KATIE

MIKE

KATIE TURNS AND WALKS WAY FROM MIKE. SHE TURNS THE CORNER AND SLOWLY WALKS ACROSS THE SPORTS FIELD. JOHNNY MEETS HER HALF WAY.

JOHNNY.

KATIE
(NODS)

JOHNNY
That’s my girl

HE PUTS HIS ARM AROUND KATIE AND THEY WALK AWAY.


THE NEXT DAY.

IN THE SCHOOL LIBRARY.

MIKE IS SAT DRAWING A PORTRAIT OF KATIE ON A PIECE OF PAPER. KAI WALKS UP TO HIM AND LOOKS OVER HIS SHOULDER.

KAI

MIKE CONTINUES DRAWING.

MIKE
Katie’s invited me to a party
Saturday night and I’m gonna

THE CAMERA SHOOTS THROUGH THE FRONT ROOM WINDOW.

MIKES FATHER IS DRUNK AND IS SHOUTING AT MIKE. HE PICKS UP A BEER BOTTLE AND THROWS IT AT MIKE‘S HEAD.

MIKE DODGES THE BOTTLE, HE RUNS TO THE OPEN DOOR. HE RUNS OUT AND SLAMS THE DOOR SHUT BEHIND HIMSELF.

IN THE BATHROOM

MIKE HAS PLACED THE SKETCH OF KATIE OVER THE SINK.

HE OPENS THE MEDICINE CABINET. HE TAKES OUT A RAZOR BLADE.

MIKE
LOOKING AT HIS DRAWING

MIKE CUTS KATIE’S NAME INTO THE FLESH OF HIS FOREARM.
HIS BLOOD SPLATTERS KATIE’S PORTRAIT.

MIKE’S BEDROOM.

MIKE’S BED IS COVERED IN DRAWINGS OF KATIE. HE SCANS ALL THE DRAWINGS BEFORE PICKING ONE. HE CAREFULLY ROLLS IT UP AND TIES A PIECE OF RIBBON AROUND IT.

SATURDAY NIGHT 7.30

MIKE WALKS UP TO KATIE’S HOUSE. HE IS HOLDING THE DRAWING. HE STOPS OUTSIDE OF THE FRONT DOOR AND RINGS THE BELL.

KATIE ANSWERS THE DOOR.

MIKE
Hi, I’m not too early am I?

KATIE
(SMILES) No.

MIKE
Oh this is for you.

HE HANDS HER THE DRAWING.

THE CAMERA SHOOTS A CAR PARKED ACROSS THE STREET.


JOHNNY, PETE AND RAY WATCH AS MIKE ENTERS THE HOUSE. THE DOOR CLOSES BEHIND HIM.

INSIDE KATIE’S HOUSE.

THE LIVING ROOM.

TWENTY (OR SO) OF KATIE’S FRIENDS AND FELLOW STUDENT’S ARE EITHER STOOD TALKING OR DANCING.

THE LIGHTS ARE TURNED DOWN LOW AND PARTY LIGHTS HAVE BEEN HUNG UP.

A TABLE WITH FOOD AND DRINKS IS SET AT ONE END OF THE ROOM.

SEVERAL STUDENT’S NUDGE EACH OTHER AND GIGGLE AS MIKE ENTERS THE LIVING ROOM.

KATIE FOLLOWS ON BEHIND HIM.

MIKE
TO KATIE
Are you going to open it?

KATIE
Sure.

KATIE’S BEST FRIEND’S JENNIFER AND STEPHANIE LOOK OVER HER SHOULDER AS SHE UNWRAPS THE DRAWING.

JENNIFER GIGGLES AS SHE SEE’S THAT THE DRAWING IS OF KATIE.

(IN SURPRISE)

MIKE SMILES AND TAKES HOLD OF HER HAND. HE LEADS HER OVER TO WHERE THE OTHER STUDENT’S ARE DANCING.

MIKE AND KATIE START TO DANCE.

(OVER HIS SHOULDER)

KATIE
(SMILES TO KAI)

JOHNNY, PETE AND RAY ENTER THE HOUSE.

IN THE LIVING ROOM.

KATIE TRIES TO DISTANCE HERSELF FROM MIKE. SHE PUTS HER HAND ON MIKES LEFT FOREARM.

MIKE FLINCHES. A LITTLE BLOOD SOAKS THROUGH HIS SHIRT.

I think if you want to make a bit spooky as well (sorry I haven't read the script and I know this may be a little late for adding bits) he could have something like some stupid show 'n' tell. And thte teacher is like winding him up: 'So, do you actually have something this time?'
'Sure!' (Whips out gun). :D Police cars can all be put in digitally, pictures etc from net... Also try and minimilise the amount of time you see the cops just add the heavy presence of sound FX to keep it cheaper. Look into duplication of police men/women? I also think that kene is right, you need to make it look like the police are coming in in force. Maybe helicopter SFX?

I'll get back to you with more ideas as I have them...

P.S. Sorry for not reading the scripts yet, I'm sure you'll forgive me though. I will do as soon as possible. :D

first of all, just a little grammar thing, stood should be standing and sat should be sitting unless you describe it in the past.

At the end, I think Mike should not kill Katie, because this destroys his image of a person who has just cracked suddenly. He comes across as malicious.
Perhaps just before he shoots her he decides to save her, because he is stll in love with her?

I also think that he comes across as cruel and twisted, whihc isn't such a good thing as he is your anti-hero kinda guy. Perhaps illustrating him as cruel ruins the story of his
pain and suffering leading up to the killing, because anyone who is twisted and sick can go and shoot up a school, but here is more to him?

Maybe make it almost like someone with two people in them. There's one side that doesn't want to do it, wants to be normal etc. but then a dark and sinister side that is like making him do these things, so when he shoots his hand is shaking etc. Breaks down and crys after killing people + says sorry when/before/after he shoots people.

I think you should stick with him killing Katie. Here's this one person, one of the very few people he considers friends. He goes out on a limb for her and cares for her, believes in her. Then she goes behind his back, turns on him, and screws him completely. This is a great point in the film where viewers can think "Man, this really sucks! You can really sympathize with him then, which gives him a reason for killing her. Then maybe you can add a scene in school, with everyone running around screaming and the audio fades while he looks at her at gunpoint and considers, then you have some flashbacks. He struggles with the decision, we see it in his eyes, then he kills her anyways. Or maybe something happens - he sees something out of the corner of his eye that causes him to pull the trigger - like a kid running at him, so he kills Katie by reflex then kills the kid.

But I still say keep that part in.

i definately think there should be some callous revenge getting, but he needs to kill katie in a much more dramatised way, maybe he shows remorse as he is shooting her?

he could strangle her, as if he is clenching with rage around her neck, and her eyballs can pop and ooze like soft-boiled egg onto his hands.

Yeah, no he should kill her like Nero killed is first wife. He just goes up to here and is really angry and starts just punching her, then she falls over and starts kicking her, and he's like really incensesed. Then he realises what he's done and breaks down like crying next to her, like he didn't mean to kill her.
