An Idea - Collabrative Film - Who Is In?

Post by Jperson »

I know this probably shouldn't be here, but oh well. I've been looking at the Zombies Files Project and it looks great, anyway I was thinking (unusual - I know) and I thought it would be quite cool to make a collabritive film based on different days of the weeks! :) So like, one person makes as short for one day, a ntoher for another and so on. We could have more than one short film on each day and certain characters coming back (like some stories interwoven). And each day would kinda be themed, like Monday: depression (cause it's the beggining of the working week and everyone is depressed), while Friday could be happy (cause it is the end of the week!)

I got this idea when I was looking at MadCow Films's script for SATURDAY. Wonder what everyone thinks.

Please be a little clearer. Would each film be about the day, or have it's own little plot?

And it seems that the last collabrative project did not work out; not to put you down, but you might take that into consideration.

Neat idea, though.

Yeah Vor's got thte idea, about, maybe three or four short films a day (so about 21 short films in total) sorry if I wasn't clear, but, someone would make a short film ofr Monday, then a nother person for Monday (i.e. set on Monday) and then at the end we would bundle three short films together per day. Monday = 1 Film by A, Another FIlm by B and then to finish a film by C, and then on Tuesday a film by D, then E, etc. But maybe we could return to one storyline/short film. Does that make any sense? I thought everyone was going to yell "Hey you copied Zombie Files project so badly!" Lol, anyway, I know collabrative films are really, really hard (especially when you have people of huge differences in abilities) (lol) and I know it is hard to get it all done - but I'll try.

WHat last collabrative project, do you mean the zombie thing, or something else?

I was thinking more like....one film maker doing one day, and each film being about 5 minutes to 10 minutes in length.

Yeah, maybe Vor, cause that way it would make it slightly smaller scale. But yeah, and also we could have different genres: Monday could be action and Friday comedy, etc.

I like the idea of different genres for different days. Monday could be drama, because it's starting a new week, and Friday could be comedy because it's ending it, for example.

Now, I'm still not clear on whether this would be a film in itself, containing many short films, or just an ongoing project every week. (?)

And by 'the last collabrative project' I meant did mean the Zombie files. I sort of remember Foxwood saying he gave up on it; correct me if I'm wrong.

Ooooh... I was looking forward to the zombie thing, oh well. What I mean is it would be one film composed of short films.

I think we should get this done. The whole thing. I'll do Saturday as I came up with the Idea, but we need to sort out who does the other days of the weeks. And then who'll finally edit it all together.

One more thing; if we do this, we should base the days we do around our ordinary lives. Like SATURDAY is based on mine. I'm kinda shy with human people and never go outside. I love games and would rather spend time with them instead of people. I always get myself in to strange situations with girls and do something crazy to get out of them etc.

And when I can't be bothered to carry on a conversation I do the please leave the message, after the beep thing.

I love 'the beep message thing', MY WHOLE CLASS IS DOING IT NOW!!!!!!!! But yeah I agree, base them on real life - your life sounds an exciting one MadCow, but yeah... And also it would be cool if we had all different ages doing it. I would probably edit it, after Mr. Xmas, that is if I get Final Cut... hope, hope, hope! But yeah, then I would edit it, otherwise you could edit it MadCow, if you felt like it. ANd I reckon:

Monday - Depression, sadness, tiredness, etc. (guess why!)
Tuesday - Long Sufffering, Whining and Moaning, and a whole feel of 'Here We Go Again!' Maybe with repetitivness theme as well. Maybe slightly Horror.
Wednesday - Hope, Only Two Days Left! That sought of thing - genres: um... Morale based story, possibly, oh, and maybe some sort of dark secret?
Thursday - Happier than the rest - not comedy - the clouds clearing etc. I dunno, that sort of end of week feel.
Friday - Comedy, extreme happiness, phew! That was easy!
Saturday - Well like MadCow's idea, some comedy happiness, all that, and twinges of Action
Sunday - I dunno why, but this would be the Action genre and boredom (Action, church, kinda all peace together lol)

Now that's all probably cr**, and I just produced it, but, yeah, that's what I roughly think. Please make suggestions if you want.

Also:

Monday: 3 shorts
Tuesday: 2 shorts / 3 shorts
Wednesday: 2 shorts / 3 shorts
Thursday: 2 shorts
Friday: 4 shorts
Saturday: 3 shorts
Sunday 3 shorts / 4 shorts

And that's how many slots I reckon there should be per day, so we're looking at between 19 shorts and 22 shorts. Of course that doesn't mean 19 to 22 film-makers, 'cause remember the same storyline could pop up everynow and again, so the films are interwined, so that it is not all completly disconected.

And I would say lengths: from 7mins to 17mins (so 133 minutes to 374 minutes! Oh hell! I just realised how long that would flipping be!!!!!!!! OK, not 10 17mins, to 12mins - yah, well, maybe I'm a little too abicous - I can't spell - but you get what I mean).

Hope you haven't fallen asleep. :)

Okay. I'm still awake. If its okay, Mr JPerson, I would like to edit it as I like editing things and I have no other means of life. I agree with what happens on the days, but I think we should only have 1 short for each day, as they will be 2, 3 minutes long and if we have mulitple ones for each day thats a very long film.

The whole project could be called "The Week".

My only other worry that if its over 10 minutes, I won't be able to put it on YouTube yet as I am still trying to persuade them to make me A director. Anyways... We need to get other companies to do the other days of the week...

One more thing! We could have a news story when people watch TV and the story can be carried on in each day for each character, as I can make a reporter like segment using the editing material I have.

OK, I agree shorten it, but I still like the idea of more than one short a day, maybe to or 3 minutes, and two shorts a day, that's 21 mins in total and I can stick on Google Video, when I've finished editing/compiling it and yeah I was thinking ' The Week' as well for the title. So, now is anyone else interested?

Ok. 2 Movies per day. But what do you think of the news report? That might be good. If I become a Director on YouTube, I could put it on there but you can put it on Google Video in the meantime before I become a director. Can I edit?

Yeah, you can help edit, if you want. I think I'll put the whole finished thing together though, but I can send you updates etc. so you can see how far we are, and possibly edit Monday and Saturday, and how about Wednesday as well? And yeah I like the idea of a news story unravelling throughout the week. We could even add a whole theme to everything which is on the news and links the lot, but allows for sadness and comedy. Any ideas?

Well, we could have the same story, but it has twists and turns added each day. Such as on Monday:
"A daughter of a middle-aged woman has ran away. The mother said herself "I now feel like commiting suicide" (so depressed).

Then by Saturday, story has turned into:
"It turns out that the daughter who "ran away" has just been sleping with her boy freind many a time!" Or something like that.

Were you going to share scripts with each other? Like, whoever has monday would share with the other days? It would seem like if you wanted to stories interwoven then you might have to do it. Don't get me wrong, it's a good idea. Just wondering
Let god have mercy on my enemies... for i will not...

Yeah probably share scripts, infact you're right we would - an yeah I like that theme of thte story thing MadCow - we could even have something more serious - aterroist attack? Or how about it starts on Monday with a family who have a relative who has died in Jewellery shop robbery and they're all depressed, but then when you get to Saturday/Friday it is from the point of view of the robbers who are soon to be million-heirs and are happy (comedy). How about that?

Hey, I think this whole idea is a great one. May I be involved in it please? I know some of our older films weren't that good, (they were awful actually) but we are ready to try again. It would be great to participate in a project like this!

Thanks,
