Hostel 2

Post by smokeythebear »

thats right hostel 2 the movie that brought back the obsession of grissly horror films.
366 days after Lionsgate's Hostel scared movie viewers across the nation, Eli Roth's Hostel 2 will test the boundaries of film. January 7th, 2007 the hostel reopens for business as this time the film will follow three girls who will be kidnapped and tortured. MTV reported last week that the sequel focuses on three girls who are studying in Italy for the summer and they get lured back to a lot of familiar places. It turns out that the Slovakian stopover is actually part of a chain and you'll see the ins and outs of the whole organization and how they get people and kill them. "Hostel 2" starts immediately where the first film left off. More details as they come in.

And might I be the first to say, "who cares?" Sorry, I don't find this art, and wish studios could find a more productive use for the celluloid, namely leting me have a crack at it!

Naw, the rant ended, if it's your kind of thing; great, it's not my place to say anything. I just personaly don't care for the idea, but you know, it's just a movie, I'm not going to get worked up into a lather over it.

That's the problem with today's movies, you always leave the theater saying "well, at least it was well shot/had cool effects." When was the last time you left the theater and said, "Wow, what a great story!"

The production of film has been around for near 100 years now and already people are complaining about the lack of creativity. This film goes to show that lack and with a remake the lack only rises. Now that the youth culture has stumbled into the idea of gore not making a simple cringe, we are corrupt. This goes to show that only more of this cr**...no...futile, profitless, genre will rise. Solution? Us. We the youth (and some of the older of us here) of filmmaking must take a rise to prevent this from happening. We must take months to create a story to perfection, more months to write it to perfection, months to film it to perfection, and months to piece it to perfection. Who cares if you take a year and a half to make a film, as long as it's the best film a person can grace thine eyes with! AND THAT IS MY TWO CENTS!

sounds like he meant he remembers a gut wrench, wanna puke type of feeling to me. That was the only scene that made me cringe.

That's what I meant, it grossed me out. Other than that, I liked it as a hardcore horror flick. Although for the first half I thought I was watching a porno...

Hostel was ok. I don't think it did much good for the horror community though. Sure it has some nice F/X work, but the acting, story, and everything else seems to be catering for the brainwashed MTv teens out there. The Devil's Rejects was far superior and brought back the nice 70's exploitation feel with style.

Hostel was cr**. I wasted $10 buying that dvd, and i was so dissapointed.
The storyline was boring. The first half is softcore porn, and the second half was stupid.
Why was it called a Quentin Tarantino film when it was written and directed by Eli Roth?
Why would he present such a lame movie?
And why would people be sheilding me away from an anal horse movie like that?

hey, rhys, I wouldn't have thought that of you! the first half was full of naked chicks and the second presented exagerrated, over-the-top gut wrenching gore, and you DIDN'T LIKE IT?

and it's called a quentin tarantino film because he's the executive producer

personnally, I liked it. however, it's the kind of movie that i'd rather watch stoned, because when you watch it as if you think it was some kind of artistic, repertoire film, you get terribly disappointed. personnaly, I like the genre, and I loved the (how do we say "glauque" in english? creepy?) athmosphere that was found inside and around the factory. all in all, a twist visibly inspired by Saw, but with a less intriguing story. i'll be happy to see the 2nd, but I'll probably wait for it to get out on DVD before seing it.

The movie wasn't that great. Like 5 cents guy said there is no creativity. Its because of our media and their pursuit for money is what leaves us younger generations second guessing. Every day its this kind of stuff that shows us to just senseless violence and how much we are not caring about it. If this was showed 20 years ago people would p*** themselves. No because the lack of creativity and the de sensitization of the youth we see this as alright and we accept it. But yes its us who must make the leap to change this. And Rhys dude your starting to make me mad. If your going to put down a film at least give us some insight to why you chose to say that. You just say aww that was cr** with no reasoning. The way to become a better filmmaker is to actually pick apart a movie and deconstruct it and tell people why it was bad and why they should fix it. I don't see you making anything near like this. Just tests of random easyness and lame fights. Please make something that is worthwhile before you criticize work. Also I guess since your just a little baby (12) that you don't understand what other roles there are in a movie. Well there are lots. Not just a director. OHHHH. Ou lalala. That would be your response. Also just to let the forum know I had a chat with Mr. Rhys about just anything and hes told me hes taking karate or some form of martial arts because he is scared to get hurt. This is just a prime example of the media scaring little kids into buying buying buying. He feels so threatened by the world around him that he stays in his backyard. That must be why all of his lame fights are there. Mystery solved. I wish he would grow some balls and stop making fun of every video, every person, everything and criticize himself because he is so good at it. You quite frankly have the worst attitude here. Make something good. Worthwhile. And sorry dude I read your Vinsore script you sent me and it was poor. Really poor.

Hostel was just that okay, I have seen far better horror/exploitation flicks out there, this one didn't live up to the hype, but then again, I watch more underground horror/exploitation films than most theater goers. Part 2 it'll probably have it's moments, I'll wait for the DVD though.

Yes, finally another person that seems to know the horror/exploitation genre.

Oh and Rhys, the reason Tarantino would present a film like this is because he and Roth are friends. Plus Tarantino doesn't make that great of movies either. He only takes his favorite music and parts of films from the 70s and puts them into his. It can be fun I guess.

Remember how I didn't see the first Hostel because it was a significant waste of whatever format it was shot on. Also, remember how there wasn't much a plot to it, then remember how Lionsgate specializes in cr** horror/gore films, finally remember how Hostel wasn't good and I didn't see it to have to know it?

Hostel is undoubtedly not a great film by any means and I can see your frustration with most of the recent horror films like this one and Saw behing produced by Lionsgate, but I hope you don't mean to direct this post at the horror genre in general. You can't forget that some of the best directors started in horror, and most still make it or are hoping to return to it, and have a love for the genre. Names like George A. Romero, John Carpenter, Peter Jackson, and Abel Ferrera. Films like Night Of The Living Dead were not only groundbreaking in the horror film genre and films in general, but had a political commentary attatched to it that most filmmakers were to scared to tackle. So I hope you don't dismiss the horror genre in general just because of most of the crappy films coming out today.

I said genre but I'm not directing to horror, I'm directing it towards the films like Hostel where the only means to actually "horrify" someone is by showing insides get ripped out. See older horrors did have gore in them but not to an extent where the whole movies point is relying on it.

This is Rhys by the way "I'm not scared of being hurt, its just something to do after school, and i gain those skills anyway. Seriously man, all u do is sit on ur a** all day playing around with photoshop then you go on about how pretty and nice the world really is. I mean, have u even left ur house in ages? I took up karate and all them because it could obviously help with later life and stuff. And crime isnt going down at all, i mean theft... sure. But attempted homocide has gone up 14% in the last year in my state. Pretty much everything to do with assult and homocide in Victoria has gone up a load. And seriously, what have u got against people doing karate anyway? There are pleanty of people on here that do that...? And as Zac says, u are probably some pedo who doesnt want to be beaten by a 13 year old. (The other day some guy was trying to kidnap a kid, and he put the guy in a head lock and kept him there till the police came. The kid was like 10 or something). Seriously 'Photoshop lord' lay off the crack, i can do what i want after school".
I like you, when the world is mine, your death shall be quick and painless.

Saw and Hostel are typical corporate horror porn... for a real film that tests the limits and extremes of cinema (plus is intelligent) i'd recommend a movie called 'Salo' by Paulo Passolini (if i spell that right!)
