What software do you use?

Post by GoodStuffFilms »

What non-linear editing software do you use? This is for program like Premiere, NOT for programs like Motion Perfect or 3DS Max. If you use other than please post the name here. Remember, this is for non-linear editing programs only! Also, are FXHome products good? They look limiting and unproffesional. Also, was Nightcast made with their products? Thanks!

I used to use premiere 6.5 but am now learning Final Cut 4.

FXhome looks legit but have never heard of it, see if any movies were made with it or download a trial version.

I use:
Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0
Adobe Premiere Pro 7.0
Adobe After Effects 6.5 Pro
Adobe Photoshop 7.0
Adobe Encore
Adobe Audition
Pinnacle Studio 9.0 SE
Working together, they are perfect.
And from what i have heard on here, the FXHome products are really lame. There alright if u want to quickly chuck an effect on ur footage (muzzle flash, really lame bullet casings, etc.).
Over all Premiere Pro is the way, i have never had a single problem with it, but only when i tried to put like Adobe Premiere 6 plugins into it. I love Premiere Pro. When i first got it i was like "WTF?" then i got some magazine on how to use it, i was like..... "ooh yeah!". Seriously, get it.

Final Cut Express HD
Soundtrack
DVD Studio Pro
Photoshop Elements 2

Basic stuff, It's all I really need though. DEDFX, I would get FC, but since you've tried Premiere, give Final Cut a try. What version were you leaning towards?

I've got Premiere Pro at home but love Final Cut Pro so much more, and use it at work whenever I can. And oh yes, I'm getting a Mac soon and therefore can use it at home. Zing! I also use Photoshop CS, cause it's cool.

Almondo: My uncle has Final Cut 1, 3,4,5,HD, and express. To use Final Cut 5 I need to get a better graphics card.
He also has the new version of Leopard! He was at the Mac convention and is a Mac geek.

I use Premiere 6.5.

Once you've got a large portion of the little tricks and nuances down, it covers most of your editing and basic special effects needs.

I use Premiere, although Sony Vegas is used for every edit I do for deinterlacing and/or grading.

Have you seen it and if so how is it? Yeah, I've tried FCP and it's crazy fast with a good graphics card, especially the Universal release on a Mac Pro.

Ya, all I can understand is FC and AE7.

I haven't tried Leopard yet but heard it's amazing, and Windows Vista is copying it alot so they can't release the beta version.

Final Cut is one of the best editing softwares out there, it's not a personal preference it's true!

PP2 = Premiere Pro 2
AE7 = After Effects 7
CS2 = Photoshop Cs 2
FC = Final Cut

Also is pooing yourself sanitary? Eww grosse. :?

The color correction of Final Cut is a lot more indepth and tech-tified. Also, it runs super smooth and super nice on a Mac. Meowwww...
