effects..anyone know how to do them??

Post by jp575 »

hey does anyone know how to do these effects?

1 a guy walking down hall and for a split second he turns into a ghost when lightening lights up the room.

2 are you familiar with those sfx contacts? is it possible to make a close up of an eye look like that for a few seconds. iim trying to have the veins of the eye look kinda like those vampireish eyes for a few seconds. but gradually morph into it so it doessnt look really cheesy.

3 finally have a skull gradually like grow back the flesh kinda like the movie "the mummy" except only a skull partially sticking out of the ground and only for a few second scene.

I am about to get the adobe production studio...would that be the ideal stuff to get? or is there another software that i should buy instead?

thanks

I'd do stop motion animation for the flesh on the skull. Can't really help you with the other two.
If it can be written, or thought, it can be filmed.

Well with adobe production studios is really good. It have everything a Filmmaker wants! I really dont think you need any other software if you are getting the adobe production studios. BUT THATS alot of money! I really dont know about the effects

lol aaronv2,

the first, just use masking and alpha on video layers.

Photoshop the eye if ur not gna get lenses (but considering ur buying the Adobe Suite, £40 odd for lenses isnt that bad)

3D probably or you could stop frame animate it.

for the skull, id stop frame it, its the technique I am using for a music video i am doing, where the singer goes from dust to fully formed (think hellraiser)

For the fleshy skull thing, you could always start with a fully-formed face and then somehow tear it away - i.e. melt it off with a heat gun, blow it off with a high-pressure air compressor, etc.

Then you could reverse the footage for the "reforming" scene.

Thats actually how they did the effect from Hellraiser, looks pretty darn convincing.

For 1, lightning is very quick--a couple frames or so. Just export the frames you want to change, Photoshop the frames or edit them in AE if you want to use separate footage.

I forgot about this thread.....thanks for the comments and advice

I do have a question about the eye though. Is the only way to do that rotoscoping frame by frame in photoshop? Or is there a way to track it or soemthing in ae.

thanks[/b]

I'd manually track it in AE. Much easier and not hard to do.

ok thanks, I have one more quesiton though. in another scene someone is floating for a few seconds. Is the only way to do this using a greenscreen? and having someone being suspended by a rope or something? Or is there another way?

If you wanted to do it really simply, you could just film the person on a green screen, composite them onto the set and use keyframing to making them float up and down.
