THE CALL - PLEASE VIEW AND COMMENT NOW! UPLOADED NOW! SHORT!

Post by Jperson »

Here is a seven minute film about a dude who gets mugged, the kids in it are meant to be around, twelve, thirteen ish. The main bulk is told in the wrong order, on purpose, bear in mind it's a mugging and that the clips are in the wrong order (on purpose) and you should be fine. Oh and sorry about some cutts which are a bit slow! Otherwise please WATCH and COMMENT!!!!!!!!!

What are those? Shorts... pants... shants? I'd love to critique this masterpiece but it stops for my computer when downloading.

ye , not very good at all was like all your others , shots of ppls hands and what not ,then ahah its like a hand hiting a stomach and blood comes out on the ground, it was almost like you were trying to do one of those shoking drink driving ads but this was more like an add for pepsi . also you seemed to just repeat old footage over and over .

Right - Mickar - if you didn't know there was no repeated shots, there where similar shots, it was just to remind the viewer that this was an average person, walking along who gets mugged, and also, I know you hate any film like this, you only like films with cr**y filming, laughing behind the camera, a complicated, wierd stoyline and terrible acting and script, so sorry this doesn't meet your needs.

Djokicko, you didn't watch the whole thing? Well then you wouldn't understand it, so that's a bit stupid, and please tell me why it was 'freaking boooreeeeeiiinnng', you haven't given any reasons…

Pros: The editing was good.
Cons: FOCUS!
Couldn't see what was happening!
Diversity of shots? There were barely any medium/long shots.

Ok I watched it till the end I now a wish I haven’t.
First you where always out of focus (now you’re going to say you wanted it that way  ).You repeated the same shoots. It was 5 min long and then 2 mins of credit with that boring a** song that just doesn’t fit, I mean you had that’s suspense song true the entire film and then you put that song the movie lost it credibility (witch it never had to began with) it look like a ending of some happy kid movie or something, and you really don’t need to thank your self for 2 min .The punch looked bad and all of that blood just didn’t look real.
You tried to make like a suspense movie but you failed miresbly, you just can shoot that kind of movie with out planing maybe if your really gift it (but your not). But a good try never the less next time more planning.

OK, I gather you didn't like it? Well, don't just say I didn't like it, you're allowed not to like it cause we live in a free world (annoyingly) but please would you tell me why you didn't like it, I wouldn't call it very constructive critisism.

Dijiko dude, well, my cam. is really low spec and it's actualy hard to get in focus on those sorts of shots - but unless you have serious eye damage you can see what is going on.

operson - now you say you liked one of my films - I wonder why, oh yeah, cause you were in it.

That became really hard to watch. The cuts were so quick, you didnt have to time really look at or take in much. I wish i could sound nicer, but it was alot of nothing...repeated over and over. The whole film was something you could have shown, told us the story, in 35 seconds. You stretched it out for 5 minutes. I know you stretched it out for emphasis on certain shots and emphasis on brutality. But things like repeating the shot of the kid spitting blood 3 times, its like someone prodding you saying, "Look at that, look at that". You're forcing the emphasis too hard. It should be much subtler. Craft a shot to look menacing with its imagery and location and lighting. Dont just show the one shot of violence over and over.

Some closeups were just too close up as well. I like close ups most of the time, but they have to be focusing on something important or something that is foreshadowing. Maybe a close up on the muggers eyes as he watches the boy walking. But some close ups i saw in your film were elbows and cheeks. They dont really hold any signifigance. The message and the style just felt to forced. Next time, and im not gonna say to plan more i have the feeling you did plan for this, but next time. Be much more subtle about your imagery. Hold shots longer. Only focus close ups on things most signifigant to the story. And try not to use as many hand held camera shots, they work alright with this movie, but try a few steady tripod shots mixed in as well.
"People can misinterpret almost anything so that it coincides with views they already hold. They take from art what they already believe."

Mr. Anderseon dude, thanks for the advice, alot, seriously, I'll take it into account, and I've had a problem of recent, 'cause I planned the dates for the films and then - I know this sounds really pathetic - I couldn't find the tripod, so it ended up being hand-held… I agree, some of the bits at the end were a bit random…

Sorry Djokicko, I would have spelt it right, I would have, if I was doing a quick reply, like I am now, but I was quoting someone, so – sorry about that…

Lebotmizer, if you're not going to comment usefully like Djokicko and Mr. Anderson, please don't say aanything, THERE WERE NO TOY GUNS in that short - did you actualy watch it?
