Windscreen

Post by JackBauerII »

My Sony DCRTRV250's microphone, which is located about half an inch under the lens, picks up an unusual amount of wind. I was thinking of attaching a foam vocal mic screen to it. Would this work? Any other ideas? Also, I was looking for a mic out port on the camera but couldn't find one. The camera's specs didn't mention one, so an external mic is not a realistic option for me. Thanks!
If it can be written, or thought, it can be filmed.

It may work. Try it and post it here. If you have an external mic jack it's better cause you can buy a muff mic wind screen

The mic is covered by a little plastic piece. I'm going to pull that off and see if I can find anything. Or maybe I should read the manual first.

Often for heavy wind a piece of cloth tape over the mic will do the trick. Hockey tape works well (and also serves a million and one other uses on set).
