Do a forum search first, and no, there aren't. Wonders can be done with Windows Movie Maker 2 in the right situations, but that's it.

You can buy Pinnacle Studio for crazy cheap. Just look out for sales. I've seen them almost as low as $20some with capture hardware.
Movie Maker comes with Windows... there's a no brainer to start with.

Thje newest version of zwei stein isn't too bad, a bit of an unusual interface, but it's not too hard to get a handle on. check it out at http:\\www.zs4.net

RE: free video editing software
You can get any video editing program you want for free if you get a bittorent program and go to isohunt.com or another torrent file site. It is illegal though. I'm downloading 4 GB worth of all different kind of editing programs right now to try them out. Ulead, Vegas, Pinnacle, Adobe, and tons of converters and DVD making programs are in the torrent Im downloading.

Legally, check eBay for older versions of After Effects and Premiere and the like, they are often cheap because they are old and the seller just upgraded to the latest version, but that doesn't mean the old ones are any less good.

Yea limewire is great for individual songs and stuff. If your looking for a program or you want a whole CD or somthing then torrents are better to go with. Much faster most of the time too.

technically I did not link it. I just wrote part of the address down. I hope your not getting mad over it though. It's just some people think these companies make enough money.

And uif they didn't make money, we wouldn't have their product. If you don't want to pay for the product, either use a freeware software or write your own. Remember - the companies make money so they can PAY people to work for them. For some reason some people see no problem with stealing software - wonder if they are the same ones who walk into a store and carry out items there without paying for it... or steal a car because Ford makes enough money... sheesh.....

Some people downloading their software is not going to cause them to go bankrupt or anything. Downloading and stealing a vehicle are two seperate things however, even though they involve the same action. I wouldn't tolerate someone stealing someone else's car or stealing from a mom and pop shop, but if someone stole a car from Ford I could care less. Ford has such bad history of union and human rights violations that it wouldn't bother me one bit to see somthing happen to the people at the top who run the company. So don't even try to make someone feel sorry for Ford if they got a company car stolen from the factory or somthing. Next time think before you say somthing like that.

Againe we see theft is OK as long as it is some big impersonal "thing" we steal from. And don't get nme started on unions LOL, been there, done the union shop thing, most unions are worse than the employers they deal with when it comes to screwing over their membership... bottom line is this, if you want something that is for sale, you pay for it, not steal it, that is what society defines as proper social action based on laws. Ford was only an example. Where would you draw the line at who it is OK to steal from? Someone with twice what you have? someone with three times what you have? If you have three cars and I have one, is it OK to steal one of them since you have so many and I don't? You can rationalize all you want, but the bottom line is no matter how you cut it it is still plain and simple thievery. And please explain to me how stealing a software application and stealing a vehicle are in any way different? And hey I've been thinking for 47 years to develop my views on life....

When it comes down to you having to sell your film, you still have to have commerical contract (or something or other) from the company you are using the software from.
I also just found this a few months ago, too lazy to mess around with it.

I think the difference is when you steal a car; you steal something with that is "real," and holds value, while a program is not "real" and holds no value. From my point of view it's a little hard to explain: like a program can be copied, but a car cannot be copied. If I illegally download a program that company losses no money, except for the aspect of gaining some from me in the future: but still, there is no certainty I will buy the program in the future. But that doesn't validate it; to me it is still wrong to do it.And please explain to me how stealing a software application and stealing a vehicle are in any way different?

FAvid free is a pretty decent little editor. I have played with it, just don't care a lot for it's workflow, but then I've been using premiere since like 5.0.
@maj barnes - No flame intended here, but I find it interesting that on a board of creative individuals you would think that a creative product has no real value. Obviously if you download and use it then it has some value to you. Just because it has no physical embodiment you can hold in your hands doesn't mean it costs nothing to produce. It's kind of like any artistic, literary, or musical piece of Intelectual property. It does have a value, it belongs to someone else, and by downloading it you are depriving them of their right to sell it at the price they determine. Bottom line is, you COULD copy a Ford, you COULD copy the Mona Lisa, it's just ridiculously easy to copy software and digital items. Granted, copying other things would require a tremendously larger investment than a piece of software, but the total disregard for Intelectual Property rights by a creative community just blow me away.....

And free. The program does hold value, but the company still does not lose any money. They lose nothing except that aspect of you being a future buyer. If I stole your car, then you'd lose money; If I stole a program from your PC, you would lose no money. That's the point I was trying to make.it's just ridiculously easy to copy software and digital items.
Good point. It's kind of like any artistic, literary, or musical piece of Intelectual property
Yea I see what you guys are saying. It's true that it's stealing and I never said it wasn't. You have convinced me to delete my pirated software and stick to buying it. Please do not use Ford as an example though man. Even if the unions are worse, Ford has committed some very bad humans rights violations along with companies like Coca Cola who pay para-military groups to kill off people that work in their latin American factories who try to organize a union. Ford is just not a good example for those kinds of things if you know what I mean.
