what can i do for fake limbs?

In a horror movie i am going to make one scene a person is going to be crawling on the the ground when her leg is choped in to with a machete.
How can i do this? is there a way to buy fake limbs?

Make them urself fool, make plaster castings then fill them with a bases coat of liquid latex then fill that with foam latex.

It is Halloween season, the stores are carrying pretty good looking fake limbs this time of year.

Or you could just wrap newspaper in duct tape make it in to the shape of a leg maybe add a blood pack to the area it will be slashed take a old pair of pants which match the color and style worn by your actor and get a close up and hack away. I dont know what you could do afterwords to make the actor look like he doesn't have a leg but im sure someone around here has an idea

yea....thats a good idea, for after the leg is gone, just don't get their legs in the shot, except for a few seconds, then you can just cut it out

Plaster is very cheap and you can get it at about any arts and crafts store. Me and DEDFX actually found some at WAL*MART and it wasnt expensive at all. The foam is a bit more expensive though and a little harder to come by.

What could i do for good veins or chunks of flesh to hang out n stuff

this will sound wierd but use deli meats for chunks to hang off...have like torn up chunks of thin sliced turkey and have fake blood over the torn part of the arm and the meat and it will look like torn muscle and stuff

For a torn flesh you can simply use latex and mess around pulling at it and stuff until you get a cool ripped flesh look. Its good for small things.

make some jello with less water and once its dry use it for guts and tearing flesh...

you could chop bits from rubber gloves and paint it red or summat for manky skin where the wound is. yum
