15 second short film.

Post by Despin »

Hey there.

On tuesday we fould out Nokia was having a little short film comp asking for 15 second films. The dead line being August 15. We we came up with an idea. Shot it last night. Anyway.. I just checke dthe website to get the entry forms and found the deadline is actualy August 31st. So if anyone is intrested you should give it a go. There are some nice prizes.

Check out the comp here. http://www.nokiashorts.co.uk/flash.htm Shane Meadows has made his own film. That's up there as well as last years winners.

Anyway. We just finished the cut and the sound on our own short. Just gotta think of a title... Then get it sent off.

If anyone wants to see it and let me know what they think you can see it here.

It's about 4mb and encoded with the latest divx.

Let us know what you think.

Hey there.

For those who are intrested, we now have a slightly longer cut of the film. If you have the time I would like to know what you guys think of the longer cut. It's the same short. But I feel it runs a little better with us not having to rush to get in and out in 15 seconds.

Any opinions and feedback would be great. Thanks.

You can see it here.

Why would anyone start a film competition for a 15 second long movie?

Why would anyone post questions for the sake of posting questions? It's to see what you can do with 15 seconds of screen time. If you think about it, the most universally known footage tends to be commercials rather than films, which are usually anywhere from 10 to 40 seconds. You should be able to do a short film like this before you move on to short features, because if you make a movie that's 15 seconds long and looks like @ss, then noone will want to sit around and watch when you come out with a 20 minute film. For all they know, it's 20 minutes of the same cr**.

despin, is there a required format for that competition, or just encode it divx and let them do the rest?

Clever writing, I liked it a lot, especialy the night-time footage of the house, was it a day for night? Good luck in the competition.

Hey there.

"despin, is there a required format for that competition, or just encode it divx and let them do the rest?"

I just sent them a uncompressed AVI file.

"Clever writing, I liked it a lot, especialy the night-time footage of the house, was it a day for night?"

Well we didnt have time to go shoot a night shot. So I took a shot from an earlier short film we made and then tried to make it look like night time.

Here's a before and after if you're intrested.

I had to rush it. The front of the house was way too bright and I didnt have time to track a mask and put it in shadow. But the shot is so quick I think we got away with it.
