High Definition

Post by Carnage7p »

At this point the only consumer versions of high definition camcorders are sony's FX-1 and JVC's GR HDV1US. Does anyone know of other HDV camcorders that are scheduled to come out in the next year. From what i hear the JVC cam is overall better than Sony's FX-1. What do you guys think?

You forgot the Sony HVR-Z1U. It's a more professional version of the FX-1.

JVC GY-HD100 this camera is also prosumer, but features interchangeable lenses. If you want filmlook, then go for this baby.

what are they expecting the GY-HD100 to cost? I am looking for a new camera. I have the Sony VX-2100 right now.

If I remember correctly, JVC said the GY-HD100 would be under $10,000.

I was told the JCV camera will be about 7,000 which meands if you're going to buy the new Canon XL2 mine as well just save up 2,000 more and get HD.

It seems to me that the Panasonic HVX200 will be the king of prosumer HD cameras this year. The only downfall being the cost of the P2 media cards.

Read about the HVX200 ($5,995) below:

Sony's new single chip CMOS HDV camera the HDR-HC1 ($2,000):

...and the "professional" version, the HVR-A1U ($3,500):

Both of the Sony models are due out in July I believe, while the Panasonic will be available around December. That is, if memory serves me right.
Erm... yeah...

The HVX200 is the more robust format, rather than HDV it is DVCPro50HD and will resord to P2 memory sticks. Supposedly better low light response than teh 100, all around looking to become a quick leader in consumer grade HD video...

Wow! The Panasonic AG-HVX200 looks awesome. The Sony HVR-Z1U only records the HD video at 25 Mbps while the Panasonic records at 100 Mbps. Also, the Panasonic AG-HVX200 can record at 24p, while the Sony HVR-Z1U can't. The only thing that sucks on this camcorder is the P2 Media Cards. They cost way to much to hold just a few minutes of video. I just found my dream camcorder. (Until another one comes out that is better than this one.)

60p will be nice! Real slow motion. I'm also not sure it it can record at 1080p, but if it does, that's even better.

to me, if your going to buy a decent cam now adays, there is no other choice than the HVX200. It blows every other out of the water.
