Slates

Post by wildabeast009 »

I was wondering if anyone knew where to get a slateboard thing. Nothing to fancy, just the basicks, with a clapstick and everything. Also, what is all the different information you put on the slates. Any info would be great.

Upon first look, Ebay has quite an array.

And making one is very simple. I could put up plans based on mine if you want.

What do you actually use them for? Is it just so you can tell that this is "shot 3, scene 5, take 2" without watching the whole thing?

That's one of the main reasons I need it for is syncing up sound and video. Yeah, that be great if I could see the plans. I've tried to make one before, it just wouldn't hold together very well.

Party shops sell them as well! They're used for themed parties.

Great plan, UFP, I was planning on making one soon and I'll be following your guidelines now. Although, I'm going to put a piece of dry-erase board on the front of my slate, I think. (Easy, quick, and less mess than chalking it)

Dry erase is a good idea, that seems to fairly common nowadays in Hollywood. They've got the fancy digital timecode displays though.
