Make it in Photoshop or whatever then animate it in Premeire or Final Cut.

I would just drag the image into a video track.

If you have Adobe After Effects, follow this tutorial:

Make it in photoshop and drag it into a spare video track in premiere or whatever you have.

There's two ways to do it with Adobe Products...

The first, best, fastest and easiest is to use After Effects and make a solid, add a mask to the solid and animate it, and then once you've done that for the footage, copy, blur, and color the layer as you like. I think TheForce.net has a good video tutorial on this... I know there's one somewhere, 'cuz I used it to learn.

If you have Photoshop & Premiere, what you'll have to do if you want a decent effect is export your scene as a filmstrip or several filmstrips, load them up in Photoshop, then do it frame by frame.

If you cant afford expensive time consuming programs like adobe. How about just downloading this small free file.

http://lsmaker.uw.hu/page.php?main=lsmaker.html#lsmaker

No big programs, No complications. Just import your footage, choose your saber color. Left click where you want to start the blade, Right click where you want to end.

Click Render frame. And boom, 3 clicks and it's done. Do it on every frame and you have a sweet looking light saber.

Hope it helps.

open the file rather than saving it, then extract it. If yo continue with problems, i'd be happy to just email you the file.
