Photoshop, Premiere, Final Cut....
For just muzzle flashes I'd get Photoshop. It does one frame at a time but a muzzle flash is only up for 1-2 frames.

Final Cut Express is available for a free download. Photoshop is less than 100 I think.

Yeah, OutcastJiob and I bought After Effects 5.5 from ebay for $157...the new price from adobe is $600. Not a bad price reduction. It is worth spending a decent amount on your editing software, trust me. The results are better. Splurge a little bit on this and you won't regret it. Also, you could spit the price with someone, that always helps
