I purchased a firewire card and a cable today, and i installed the card in the correct way and connected the cable to it.
When i connect the cable from the card to my camera and turn the camera on, my computer freezes.
It totally freezes and nothing can be done except for restarting my computer.
My camera is a Canon MV750i and if you could provide a solution for my problem then i would be much obliged.
Thanks again
Swanny

RE: Firewire troubles
hmm xp should handle it. I have had that trouble with 98 but not heard of it with XP
RE: Firewire troubles
Make sure the firewire card is found and listed in device manager. If it's not try reseating the card in the PCI slot

Check device manager see if there are any conflicts with other devices.

RE: Firewire troubles
sometimes firewire cards come without any dirvers, saying "the OS will do everything neccessary". Then you'll find yourself in a quest for a high number of drivers.
Make sure to install all firewire card drivers the System asks for, before you even plug in the camera. Maybe XP will ask you for some .sys files etc. If you cannot find them immediately, write down their names. Then search them on your harddisk. If you cannot find them on your Harddisk, you'll find them in the Web.
If the firewire Card is once working correctly, you may plug in the camera, turn it on in Playback mode, then turn on the comupter.
