Adobe Premiere - Adobe After Effects

Post by Skanza »

I currently have Adobe Premiere Pro 7.0.

What I was wondering, what is Adobe After Affects?

if I get Adobe After Affects do I actually need Adobe Premiere Pro?

Which of them is better?

Thanks a lot! :)

First of all, you dont have premiere PRO 7. you either have premiere 7 or pro 1.5 or 2. Premiere pro 7 dosnt exist.

Premiere (pro or otherwise) is an editing program. Aftereffects is more effects, motion and animation.

if your doing editing then you need premiere, if you want to add extra stuff like animation, morphing and sophisticated movment then after effects would be useful.

Premiere Pro is for editing your movies!
After Effects is for special effects!

If you are going to make great films you'll probably need both of them, like me! :)

Thanks for the replies!

Do most of you people leave adove premiere to to the basic editing such as clipping, sounds etc.

And use after effects for colour alterations and all that? Even though you can make those changes in Adobe Premiere?

Thanks!

I managed to get hold of Adobe After Effects 7 and it does the job for certain elements.

However it fails to export to AVI format...

And I get no sound when I'm working in After Effects :(
