Export To Tape?

Post by Zac »

im not quite sure what category this question fits into, but anyway.
i need to export a movie onto a miniDV tape, from Adobe Premier Pro 2.0. and i go to file, export to tape, and i plug in my cam and turn it onto record and everything, and then when it tries to record onto the tape it just dosnt go on there at all.
ive recorded a movie to a miniDV tape before from pinnacle studios but when i try that now it just says the device is not connected.
please help.

RE: Export To Tape?

I have tried this too, and it doesn't work for me.

The only way I can do this (and yes, it will take some time) is to make a high quality wmv of the movie, import to WMM, then export to digital camera option.

For some reason WMM can do it but Premiere cannot.

hope this helps!

make sure your camera is plugged in via Firewire and the pc recognizes that camera.

Ok,
Make sure you connect/plug your firewire to the camera. Put the camera into playback mode. The camera should be on, and then go to File--Export--Export to Tape--- Then Click record and it should work.

yep i did all of that, but it will only pick up the cam if its on record, and then when i try that nothing happens.
ive tried in 3 different programs adobe premier pro 2.0, pinnacle studio SE, and ulead videostudio 9. ALL of which do nothing.

You should try your camera on someone else's computer that it should work on. Then you can figure out if your problem is your camera or your computer. If it is your camera, the firewire port may have been damaged somehow. I've blown out the firewire port on 2 cameras in the past by hooking them up incorrectly. I'm not sure about the older versions of Premier, but I always just scrub an output from the timeline. I never use the export to tape feature. Good luck, I know its frustrating.

did you try WMM to see if it works there?

throw in a short vid on your computer to see at least if your computer will export something. Then you will know its not the camera or connection.

Some cameras don't allow tape export. Try a different camera or a DV Deck.

Yeah I was gonna say, check your camera is DV in and DV out capable. Some countries (like the UK) have DV in turned off for tax reasons (it costs more to sell a camera if it's classed as a 'video recorder' for some reason)

You can get an adapter to sort it out if it's not DV capable. It's a pain in the bum bum anyway.
