New Halo Marine Flick

Post by PapaMurf »

I am currently in Pre Production of an Untitled Halo project. It is about a squad of marines who crash and must survive until help arrives. THINK BLACK HAWK DOWN. Has anyone done a Halo movie before. Also, does anyone know how to make Marine armor, I was just thinking cardboard, but any help will do! Thanx

I have started writing the script. I will require 8 marine costumes, 5 grunts (various colors), 2 elites (blue and white), and a jackal. I will be using airsoft guns and it takes place in a forest. More to Come Soon!

How will you make the grunts/jack? You have midgets or kids to play them?
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

You don't need a parachute to go skydiving. You only need a parachute to go skydiving twice.

lol. It'll be easy to find 6 midgets. Will you use modern airsoft guns? You should try constructing some assult rifles like the ones in the game.

Whatever you do, please do not do this on a really low budget, because without decent costumes, it will just look wierd.

Matthawkins.co.uk = website to have fun in. Saying that comment was very ignorent truggy. Someone can come here and do a big budget film if they want. And 10 grand is low budget in hollywood terms. And if he's not going to, then he shouldn't do the film, becuase who wants to see a crappy halo film?

No it's not. Nobody wants to see a shitty halo flick. No point in doing it at all if you can't do it right.

Why don't you make all of the "monsters" as hand puppets? With tight editing, it'll work... not to mention it'll look like you're fighting alien hand puppets....... God, that's an awesome idea.

*Close up of hand puppet in forest background...*
"GRAAWWWW!"

*Soldiers*
"Ahh, it's coming at us!!!"

*Hand puppet*
"Graaawwww!!!"
"KHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!!"

I've gotta agree with Blade (god, I feel faint...), there would have to be some kind of monetary value to this or the results are gonna look just... well, rubbish.
Ooh, french maid. Didn't expect me home from the whipped cream store so soon did you? And who's your lady friend?

Sorry for the double post but... hand puppets would kick a**! It would have a "The Land that Time Forgot" vibe to it... Wow, Doug McClure....

So, I should earn some money for it first? Cuz I am gonna start filming in the Summer. Before that, I will post pics of weapons, costumes, etc. just to get your guys's approvals. I see what 13lade is saying, but maybe not 10 grand cuz im not that rich.

Relax guys. This in sn AMETURE film site. Most of us don;t have that kind of money to spend on a film....and even if we did we wouldnt (probably), unless we were talking back in some cash. Now, for my WWII films, ive probably spend 2000 bucks and it doesnt look like sh*t. You'd be amazed at what a few hundred bucks at the arts and crafts store, plus imagination and creativity will do for you. I'm sure you could make some decent looking costumes out of cheap materials, and guns too. This is a gun a guy made form lego. It doesnt look perfect close up but if its for an extra, itll look great
http://content.kapowwe.com/images4/contest7/caw3.jpg

I'd say go with it...no matter what your budget is. Most of us do what we can with the amount of money we have. I'm sorry to go on and on but I wouldn't want to see a potentally good film bypasses because someone didnt have 10 grand to blow on it.

Let's try to put the F-U-N back into filmmaking and this forum.

I realize good things can be made using a really low budget, but we are talking aliens that look like this...

and this...

Replicating these costumes on a really low budget is next to impossible.

Exactly why I said 10 grand, becuase it's a number thats impossible for him to earn, but possible for the film to be done on. To show him what a LOW end halo movie would take. Just the custom costumes and weaponry alone would eat up that budget.

THP, if people *wouldn't* , why do all these fanfilms spend 10 grand or up?

No offense, but the lego gun looks pretty shitty lol. And yeah, I would normally say go for it and don't give up, but this is halo were talking about here. Nobody wants to see halo made a fool off becuase it looks like s***.
