Steadicam made 4 free!

Post by ju88a »

Dunno whether ya read my post before but I was working on making a Steadicam on a budget of £10. For those who dont know check out www.steadicam.com it keeps your camera steady while filming giving a much more professional look to the recording. The one my neighbour just made for me is amazing and works better than I could have expected. I will post up the pics and a tutorial if anyone wants to try it but welding is needed. Parts required are a car tyre wrench the one shaped in a cross,a socket set bit, a 2lb club hammer head, 1 1/4" machine bolt a square piece of metal and a rubber washer. All the parts he found in his garage and he designed and made it in 1 hour...the man is a god, trust me! I made a video of him working on it which I will pop up if ya want. I also have test footage of me jogging between my front room and bedroom and it looks like I have a pro rig setup, very fliud movement due to the weighting. He is gonna make me a car rig for strapping to the car doors and has had a pretty genius idea of using parts of a rucksack and mounting plates and what not on it could double as a handsfree chest plate setup and car door clamp tripod thingy. Matt I would like to know the plans to your car setup as that footage using the Ford Ka was excellent! Oh yea the best bit was he charged me nothing and all parts should be found in everyones garage.
