This is to hard to work a project this size on one thread, and it's not fare to otheres to take up all the space needed to make it happen, so if you want more info go to www.sticktowhatyouknow.com we are trying to make it as easy for you as we can.

No one is saying switch board's, just use our space for this project.

Basically what's going on is everyone can make their own mini doc, which will later be edited into a whole documentary, our you can add clips to the whole.

I'm sorry this just annoys me and I know this off topic but: In the US they believe it is their patriotic right, no duty to carry firearms yet are disgusted when mass shootings happen? Well I see one quick, cheap and effective way of stoping it. I'm sure anyone could come up with this: ban guns. I have looked the theory, OK, I"m sorry I haven't read any of the other posts. I suppose what you are suggesting is nice, except sounds very expensive and I'm not sure any government it going to be prepared to spend that sort of money on that sort of protection, and if they did, to say, win support then they would have a problem coming up with the money.

Or... what if, all kids are given guns?

Quoted from the sticktowhatyouknow forums:

"got a more simple solution, ban guns.

In the UK we dont have guns, bb guns are even banned. We have about 2-10 killings a year from illegal guns. If you get court with a gun you get 15 years."

"That would seem like a simple solution. However, this country was founded on the principal that the citizens of this great nation have the Constitutional right have guns.
It would take a constitutional ammendment to stop guns and I see this not happening in the next 50 years."

"Problem is, you can ban guns all you want - the criminals will always find ways to get them, and then the situation is worse because they know that nobody else will have a gun to defend themselves. Case in point: Switzerland allows any citizen to carry handguns concealed, or to openly carry handguns, SMGs, or rifles. The result? Switzerland actually has one of the lowest crime reports in the world. Far lower than the UK, where in fact, guns ARE banned. Oddly enough, most of the crimes committed in Switzerland actually happen *without* the use of firearms.

Banning guns is never going to solve the problem. It's kinda like saying that nobody smokes pot anymore since we banned marijuana."

220 million firearms in the US. On the Census Bureau's list of 130 major causes of death, gun related deaths failed to break the top 100 over the past few years. They account for .008% of our roughly 2.5 million annual deaths. Compared to the million some odd lives that heart disease claims. Or the 3 million injured and 50,000 dead to car accidents.

Annually, almost 2 million cases of firearms being used for self defense are reported, and US states and cities that pass more stringent laws usually see an increase in violent crime (keep in mind that VT was in a gun free zone, and the killer passed the background check because they failed to look into his mental health history - the NRA is currently helping to railroad a bill that will expand and more strongly enforce the checks performed before you can buy a gun.) If you want to try and argue that Europe's universal gun bans indicate a more advanced way of thinking, you'll first have to explain where you got the idea that the social and cultural dynamics of the US and Europe are even remotely similar.

I think if you baned gun's in the U.S. to day, it would take 20 year's to get just half of them off the streets, this is not going to happen or work.

Like they say the gun is just a tool, take away the guns and they will use poisin, or something that can still kill more than one at a time.

The problum is the person, that is what need's fixin.
