8mm to DV or tv

Post by youngfilmmaker »

Well, I have some old 8mm tapes in which i want to look at, but the old camera is broken.

So how can i transfer it so i can see it on the computer or to my Canon GL2?
Is there any way i can transfer it to a DV?

Dazzle, professional who reformats analogue to DV, try using it in a digital 8 camera which can work with firewire.

im doing the same thing at the moment transfering my old 8mm tapes from way back , but i have my old 8mm working, i suppose the only way wud be if theres some sort of 8mm player that can hook up to the vcr, or the digital 8 cam, (which didnt work for me) . Looks like your gona have to find a 8mm camcorder or something that can play it which wud most likely cost you some money

Does Digital 8 Cam have space for a firewire?

I use my old Matrox analogue capture card for this purpose. It cost me $600+ about 8 years ago!

Yeah, you're going to need an 8mm Deck or Camcorder to view the tapes. Using a deck would cause a lot less wear on the camera, (possibly the cause of the ejection problem?) but it would probably cost a lot more to get.
