money

Post by DAZMAN »

Any one here making any money out of film making. To finance my next film, we spent a year (every odd weekend) making a music DVD for a country and westen singer. We got a good deal, for every 500 sold I get £2000. Its not bad, only been out 2 weeks and been avalible to a few people before christmas and ive made £500 already.

Any of you lot doing anything similar? :D

Making music videos for local bands is a great idea that I'm going to pursue when I learn Final Cut Pro better.

I edit video for certain publishing companies. But I like the musicvideo idea. I've talked to a few bands who's members I know and they like the idea.

Ornsack and I own a brothel in 2nd Life. We get a 50/50 cut from employees who essentially rent space from us. This pays for our property itself. All we do is sit back and let the credits roll in. We have cashed in roughly 2.5million Linden dollars in the last 12 months. This does convert back to American $ in a much reduced fashion. Lets say though that we both have some extra cash to play with. We are also at the moment looking at purchasing a new land grab there and sub-dividing for resale. If this happens then you are looking at roughly between $20,000 and $40,000 US per block to corporates. I am also in negotiation on my end with a university to trial a virtual campus.

We set our ventures up with the view of not having to do really anything to earn money beyond the initial set-up point. Our overheads are very low also

I've found a few ways to make a little bit of a profit. Whenever I hear of couples who get engaged, I ask them if they would like to have a video made of their wedding. Usually $300-$400 a pop. Isn't too bad. As well as making picture slide shows for graduations, anniversaries, anything of that sort. As easy as they are to make, people think you spend more time on them than you do, haha. I usually get about $150-$200 for the slide shows!

I've also found myself doing some web design for local schools, bands, any groups that wish to have a web site constructed. I enjoy that work quite a bit. :)
