Explosion Test.

Post by MattexFilms »

Here is an explosion test I made on Wax. It's not very good for film editing but it's good for FX's! I got one explosion and duplicated it, resized them and put them where I wanted them to go to make it look like a huge explosion. The explosion I used was one from matthawkins.com Enjoy!

Looks good.

Could you generate a version with an alpha channel to allow keying

Thanks

Don't think it helped that you used the 'famous' stock explosion, and then used it over and over again!

Nice attempt though and you could probably make it work to some effect

hmm...rated it 1/5, not paticulary impressed, anyone with software can edit together stock footage, resize it a bit and position it random places, not that hard. Would have been better with sound and if you made it so you were actually blowing something up, rather than whiteness.

Yeah, but then you don't really need to post it for us, there's not much we can say about, when you do a real FX explosion test, post that.

A vicious cycle it is...I remember when I started out here, my stuff got chewed out pretty badly. I'm happy to say that it isn't the case so much anymore. :)

I wish people would lay in to my projects sometimes so I could get off my high horse and try a bit harder :D

The problem is... it's only a rendering of several explosions. There isn't any subject correlating to it other than you wanted to show us a big boom! There isn't any room for growth, so posting it is a little redundant. Not to mention, we've all seen those clips. :) If you try applying your newfound knowledge with something like stock footage or something you've filmed, I think you will find the feedback a little more constructive.
