Day for Night Test

Post by Clarence »

So I took some footage and tried to make it night..y in Final Cut Pro. And showed the process I used.

Here's the results:

And people say "Ooh, don't show the sky!"
But. I think it looks alright. :)

That actually looked incredibly realistic. If you hadn't mentioned that it was day for night, I would have thought that it was night. Congrats on a job well done!

I said that once...

That really did look fantastic, if I had to give you any suggestion it would probably just be considering making it a full moon to make it just a tad more believable in the brightness. Great job though, really schweet!

Looks fantastic. I think the most important thing in day-for-night is to underexpose when you shoot to avoid blown-out whites. Great work.

Seconded on all accounts. If theres any whites that are blown out, the shot probably wont convert DFN easily. Good job, my only criticism would be to maybe move your mask up so you don't crush the blacks on your actor's face! :P

Yeah, good point. I didn't actually realize how brightly the foreground was lit.

Definately. That did give me some trouble. I'll have to keyframe a mask in next time.

Not bad. Just make moon a bit less bright.
