Wow. Simply, wow. I want one so bad it hurts. I don't even want to try and picture how much one of those bad-boys costs.

I investigated these cameras once so I could hire them out. I looked at the photron ones and the olypus iSpeed system. The iSpeed which can do up to (i think) 2000 full frames per second and up to 150,000 partial frame and partial resolution fps.

The olympus camera was about £20,000 but some of the photron and phantom cameras can be up to about 50-£60,000.

There are other ways of doing it though, you can use a technique called strobe photogrophy, where you trigger a very bright flash to go off at the same moment you take a 1/10,000th/sec exposure, the flash kind of suspends the image long enough for the camera to take a frame. This only works with still photogrophy but I have managed to get afew good shots like this. See my site and click on weird photogorphy for more. www.peter-hoare.co.uk

You can buy smaller machine vision cameras which can do up to 100fps but to be honist, its not worth it. The new HD cams can do 60, and these machine cameras were about 800 quid minus a lense, hardware software and VAT.

The only other way to get images like this is to go on ebay and buy an old style highspeed camera that uses film. Be prepared to pay a lot for it though, the camera uses about 200feet of film just spinning up to speed, and it costs about 300 quid in film and about the same again in processing for one two second shot.
