Help please.

I have been wanting to start filming my ideas for a long time, but I don't have a digital camera that I can edit with on my computer. I got a small one awhile ago as a xmas gift, but it's nothing I can really work with you know. It was just somthing my parents got to see if I was joking around about it so they didn't have to spend a load of cash on me. Anyways I'm saving up some money and I was just wondering if anyone could help me out by recommending a digital video camera to me that gets the job done but doesn't cost a whole lot. I don't know a whole lot of the technical aspects, because I obviously haven't gotten a chance to get into filming yet and have mostly been writing. So please help me out if anyone can.
