cheap firewire card or firewire capture card?

i dont know if this type of question hav been asked before...
i'm wondering whats the different between using a simple pci firewire card and those branded firewire capture card (pinnacle/sazzy)
i've tried both and didnt see much different, then if there's none, why should we bother buying those expensive capture cards ?

I was quite pleased with my Pinnacle card, though I would personally list it under the el-cheapo category of lower end cards, but you just can't beat Canopus, the quality is better, can't say why it just is.

i know u hv answered my question, epsilon.. but i'm curious over the technical differences.. is there any chipset or any special stuff inside branded ones? i've used a pinnacle before and i do though the quality is good.. but when i capture using cheap firewire card, i'm surprised its as good... why is this?

What is cheaper than Pinnacle? lol I use a nice Pinnacle board and we bought it for like $30 or something, new.
