Capturing HD Problem Suggestions?

Post by Epsilon »

Well... now that I have this HD camcorder I shot some tests with it and everything looks fantastic! However, I soon realized the problem. I have no way of capturing it to the computer! It uses standard firewire connection, but Premiere Pro doesn't understand it, nothing does. I do not have anything to install with it either. So I am stuck.

Adobe hasn't released the plug-in for HD capture, apparently. There is supposed to be an upgrade for Premiere Pro 1.5 that supports HD in the near future, as I was reading. But isn't there anything right now available? Maybe I'm missing something entirely...

I'm pretty sure Final Cut is the only program that supports HD right now--but I could be wrong.

Premiere Pro 1.5 - and HDV cameras still resord to tape, and need to be transferred the same as DV format.

Sony HDV-FX1.

It can't be transfered the same as DV because nothing recognizes it. That's the problem.
