i need a new camera

Post by kg9491 »

My current camera has terrible picture quality, a cracked lens, and can't connect to a Mac through a firewire cord. I'm currently basically looking for a good camera with good quality, a good zoom, and connects to a Mac through a firewire cord. I would also apppreciate if it recorded to a dv tape or mini dv tape, for longer video capture. Unfortunately, I'm looking at a price range of around 300 American dollars. Any suggestions?

There's also the Panasonic PVGS-36, which is a stepped down model of the 180 without the external mic hook-up, real decent for a list of around 300 something if you're willing to sacrifice sound. I've been playing around with one I picked up around Christmas for two-something, mainly an impulse buy, but I shoot with it now more than my A camera just because it's so easy to use. I'm going back though because of the sound, the left channel on the mic fouls up under quick movements, but like I said, real nice for the price.
