atr-55

Post by iCEbLuEORbitZ »

hey if anybody has this mic, or has used it, i'm just wondering if its pretty high quality. low noise, good pickup, nice exclusion of outside noises, and just crisp and clear? if you have one could you send me a clip of voice recorded t a couple of feet away through a computer at 128 kbps 44100 hz. thanks!

That would be pretty rare if someone on this site had that but it looks good and pro. What purpose are you using it for?

Woah, that's a good $100 price jump there. Anyways, I'd assume it to be better than the first selection. I have the Azden ECZ-990, its a very cheap mic, and it performs well, and suits me just fine. I didnt feel like spending over $100 on one, so this fit my price range just right. If you feel as though youd rather go cheaper, its a nice selection.

I just now noticed that in one of Clarence's threads about his short movie "Phone" or whatever it was titled, he stated that he used the atr-55 telemic. so, i supposse you could watch that and see if you like the sound?

yea, but i found the sgm-1x on exay for 50 bucks right now... it comes w/o the shock mount, but i'll make my own and mount it to a stick, im not going to camera mount it. anyways. i don't need the bass, cuz i am recording only voices, but also this mic is said to pick up good bass anyways. all the other noises are going to be recorded in post. (which i have a shure beta 52 kick drum mic that i can use to record bassy stuff.)

so now, if i'm doing voices i can use that mic, and i messed around with it and it sounds freakin amazing with a little bit of compresseon and eq, and pitch shift to get a deeper voice if you want it. it sounds so much better than the camera mic! also, if i want to record sound FX, i can use this mic in conjunction with the kick drum mic i have to get some real beefy deep soundfx like car engines and whatnot! i'm so excited to start filming my next video this weekend.
