Can you hear the difference?

Post by jcdenton »

Please note, this wasn't meant as crossposting. It was kind of missed in the other thread when I posted it in the first place, so I direct this to all of you:

Can you hear the diffrence from the sound of a coin and the sound of real ammo casings?

I recorded 18 WAVs, about the half of them are coins.

the following casings where used:
9mm para
45ACP
44 Magnum
7.5*55 (is about the same as .308 winchester rifle ammo)

The files are named 1.wav to 18.wav, mixed randomly

Now please tell me what is what (please don't use visualisation tools, only your ears) . I will soon post a list of all sounds and what was used to record them. I really wonder if people can hear the diffrence.

Feel free to use them.

Here's the file: http://www.melog.ch/dl/ammo_casing_wavs.zip (747kB)

They all souned like coins to me, and they were cut off a little short sometimes. Mixed in with the proper background noise and stuff they would all work just fine though.

Ok, here's the list:

1.wav= 20 Ct coin
2.wav=.308win
3.wav=44magnum
4.wav=2 Fr coin
5.wav=5 Fr coin
6.wav=45ACP
7.wav=308win
8.wav=9mm
9.wav=2 Fr coin
10.wav=5 Fr coin
11.wav=44magnum
12.wav=2 Fr coin
13.wav=308win
14.wav=44magnum
15.wav=45ACP
16.wav=20 Ct coin
17.wav=9mm
18.wav=5 Fr coin

20 Ct is a 4 grams heavy metal coin
2 Fr is a 9 grams heavy metal coin
5 Fr is a 18 grams heavy metal coin

Anyway, personally I would rather use the ones that sound good, instead of choosing only the "real" ones, regardless of what is what.

Oh crud, lol. I totally forgot about this. I even downloaded the sounds.

Anyways, for us Americans: what is a Fr and Ct? Francs and cents? I don't even know what country you're in.
