Cinematography Logo

Hey guys, I made a really simple, yet clean logo for myself.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CYl-qpzwqw

If you look closely, you'll see a little squiggly line in the background.. (just making sure you don't miss it :) )

You guys have any suggestions on how to make it more visually appealing?

Thanks,

Colin Worley

Yeah it's simple and effective enough to not do much else with it to be honest!

On a side note, I couldn't see the squiggily line on my laptop for the life of me until I tipped the monitor at a surreal angle

I could see it. It looks good. Nothing like a CRT monitor for good color quality!

To be really honest... its boring. An audience isn't going to cream over fades in a completely unsaturated title. It looks professional, but it looks lame.

You're talking about the first logo test I did right? Did you check out the second one?

Which one are you talking about??

the second one looks nice, i ddnt like the music though, maybe it could all be a bit quicker...and the squiggly thing was lighter :(

Both were good, don't know what rhys was talking about. Probably he thinks you need some karate or explosions in it.

I was talking about the first one you big tools. It does nothing but show a title. You are trying to promote you work as a cinematographer, so why don't you put that into the video itself?
Kene555, wtf? Wouldn't it be you that would want the crappy light saber effects and general lack of imagination?

Heh...Now you're gettin' me started.
To be really honest... its boring.
It's a logo, what's it supposed to do? Logos are not about amazing FX or acting...it's a logo, right? They are about using text to advestise your work in a film.
An audience isn't going to cream over fades in a completely unsaturated title.
Would an audience "cream" over a logo in general? Do you?...I don't.
It looks professional, but it looks lame.
A professional logo is the highest compliment you can give an amateur filmmaker. Professionalism is not lame. While others may have flashy FX, lighting playing over some text...game music....like yours...while the pros have simple, effective logos, all I can say is - who is getting paid, and has a professional logo, while who isn't and has a cheesy logo.
Wouldn't it be you that would want the crappy light saber effects
I cannot see how the effect is "crappy". It is as good as any out there, and plenty better than those Photoshopped ones, so by saying crappy you are either talking from lack of experience or out of hormonal anger.
and general lack of imagination?
:D

I have dozens of videos online, with so much effort and work put into them. I make movies with a passion, because it is what I love doing. I feel it is my calling. Sure, I may not be the best storyteller, but at least I try to tell a story. Rhys, I happen to notice that none of your vids have a storyline whatsoever. You are only able to create short scenes, not even a movie at all.

Let's see, many of your "clips" are of clones, special effects, or fights. Try for a plot next time.

It's nothin' personal, its just than when you attack something good, it gets me mad.
It does nothing but show a title
It's a logo, what the heck do you expect.

I'm done
:D

Good logos, by the way Colin.

pwned

you logo looks great, colin, but if you could make the squiggly line a tad bit darker while keeping it subtle, it would be even better.

Haha kene555 Thanks!! :)

Thank you bloodymess, I think I might try that!

Thanks to everyone who have left responses!! Awesome support! I appreciate it!

Cheers guys,

Its because i put ALOT of thought into what I'm going to make a story about. I don't just pretend to be darth vader and go light-saber someone. ALL of my videos are just tests.

Don't think too hard and for too long Rhys, you might burst a blood vessel or something!

I now can't wait for your film - with all the thinking time and tests you do I'm expecting the world!!!

Isn't acting about pretending??

Yeah rhys, well, my actors don't go around pretending to be karate kids or clones. Well, I'll let you go off and pretend to be a vampire now.

Yes. :D You are setting yourself up for a fall, rhys...I'm looking forward to your *cough* film *cough*.

When's the release? 2015 did you say?
