DVDx

Post by Grant »

A friend has just started using DVDx to encode dvd into mpeg for VCD creation. Anyone here had any experience with it or have any settings tips?

I was just reading an article about DVDx, and then went online and saw your post. So it's not my personal experience, but they do talk (a bit) about settings they used on DVDx in their tests. Though the article is mostly about DVD copying/burning, there's a section on VCD and SVCD creation and some shareware options you can use. The article is useful imho for the links alone.

They start talking about DVDx on the sixth page.

cr**, I just saw the date you first posted this question. I'm sure by now you know what you want to know. Well, the article is useful anyway.

dvdx is pretty good if you dont use the internal encoder. its a lot beter to export using a frameserver (false avi) to another decoder such as tmpgenc or cce or panasonic mpeg1. but i would only use dvdx if you are short on hdd space as there are many other better rippers out there but these require that the dvd be ripped to your hdd first.
