PAUSE - A short film

Post by SE7 »

Hey. This is a short film that I entered in for a school contest. Criticism is welcome!

Enjoy.

I gave it a watch and I dig the pause effects. Care to elaborate on how you did the one where the character is in the foreground and the other is moving in the background? I liked how he moved the trampoline underneath the sister, that was pretty good. The music was great, it matched perfectly.

My only concern was really the acting...it just didn't seem like they were in an argument to me with lines like, "Whoa dude why did you do that?"

After I watched this I had a glass of water, I don't know why but that moment made me want some.

Looks like some image overlaying with the frame masked to reveal the background. Nice short. Different to the norm. Keep up the interesting work mate

Thanks a lot guys! Yeah, like pdj said... I basically masked out the characters I wanted paused inside of Photoshop, and added that layer on top of the background layer, so the background characters could move about. Thanks for the comment Kentertainment about the music... my friend will be happy to hear you liked it. Yeah, the acting was pretty bad because I did this as a final school project and I had six weeks to do it... but, I procrastinated to the last 2 days! (oops haha) So this was completed in less than 48 hours, and when we were filming my friends kept messing up on their lines, but we didn't have enough time to re-shoot. Procrastination is bad, everyone. Don't do it!

And the thing about it making you want water is pretty strange.. :)

Thanks again for taking the time to watch and comment guys! I appreciate it a lot!

the arguement was ridiculus and very trival, you could have made it more realistic, maybe a fight over a girl or something

the acting poor but saved by the effects, very cool

how did you do? did you get a descent grade?

Haha.. well the argument was supposed somewhat stupid, but I think they took a little too far.. I got a lot of extra credit. :) Everything else in my class were still trying to figure out how to edit, so my teacher wasn't expecting very much from us... hehe.

Thanks again guys.

Thanks. Yeah, what's funny is I had this idea for a few months, and then I saw on On The Lot. I still wanted to make the movie, even though they had beat me to it.

Anyways. I'm glad you enjoyed it.. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Yeah, that was really similar to the On The Lot film.

Good work, that was well done. It seems like the audio stuttered sometimes when actors were finishing speaking.

Thanks Clarence. Yeah the weird stuttering/echoing was due to compression problems. It wasn't supposed to do that...

At 01:25-ish there is a person in the background, by the way, who hurries out of the room. Very good, otherwise, great pause effects, pretty original idea. Poor Emily, she'd be like half-dead. :D

LOL! Haha... funny stuff. Thanks for the comment! Yeah, unfortunately I noticed that when editing it, but we didn't have any time to fix it.. Good eye you got there! :)
