if you check the files on filefront, there should be textures for most of the ship. Basically use the jpegs included in there for everything but the hull and hull-detail and masts. But we can worry about that later - simply filming the scene is a top priority.

yeah it is... the best i can get right now is a test shot, a blank ocean plate, horizontal, just to test how good the CGI looks on it

Sooo.. some updates, well kene555, you're awesome, thanks so much for helping me with this... lol

i have some bits and pieces of the script, alot thanks to KultFilms... ive now thought about it, and instead of a serious Pirate movie, im heading towards the POTC humor, i mean the awkward situational humor... just wierd faces...

i have a few people im looking at to act in this, ive met a few people, it may take a while, im probably going to put some ads in the newspaper round here, for people that would act for no pay, and get wet...

currently i need someone to do makeup for this, someone local, cause the pirates need to look good

alrighty

ok sorry for the double post...

we will be shooting on this small island

here- http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2& ... &encType=1

and possibly shooting on another beach for the ocean-side portion of the movie, since the island is usually busy on the other side

the last image ^^ thatnwould be awesome for the way the ship goes down, a 20 second animation would be aweomse, but for the camera angle, try sea level looking on the starboard side...

Also, what editing program do you use? I found a font that might work well for this movie. It's uploaded to the filefront.

Lookin' pretty good...

I hope you can film this on a calm day, having to composite this PLUS having to deal with waves will be horrible.

I will be going out sailing on Lake Erie within the next few weeks, I can pick up some footage if you need it.

Ok, so i wrote this outline of the scipt (Since i hate reading script.. i assume you do to...)

Reynolds a pirate has a map that leads him to a certain island, as he helps crew this pirate ship, he decides to sink the ship and head to the island by himself, as to not have to share the wealth. Well his plan goes awry when Aaron one of the younger crew survives, and Reynolds cannot pull the sword out and kill someone in cold blood, (although he could condemn 40 men locked in the sunken pirate ship). Now Reynolds and Aaron are stuck on a small, long boat and Aaron does not know of Reynolds map and compass, although grows suspicious of his activities as he rows. When they find an island Aaron finally rebels against Reynolds, finding the map and compass. A huge fight takes place from the shore, over the dunes, and onto a small inlet, knee deep. During this fight, Reynolds reveals some of the history of the map and why he's here, what he did to get it. Reynolds is finally taken down and Aaron takes the map and compass and leaves Reynolds to die. Walking away Aaron runs into Castaway (we never learn his name) upon discovering Aaron has the Map Castaway reveals he had been searching for the treasure ever since he washed ashore. So he decides to help lead Aaron to find the treasure. (What Aaron doesn't see is Castaway's large collection of human toes and fingers in his pouch.) Aaron closes in on the treasure, Castaway licks his lips and unsheathes his knife, Aaron, upon hearing this Jumps up and goes to pull out his sword and discovers it is gone, he left it next to Reynolds. Castaway jabs, Aaron ducks, and falls to the ground, Castaway raises a knife and suddenly a sword drives through Castaway's chest. Reynolds pulls it out and pulls Castaway's body over Aaron grabs the knife as points it at Reynolds. Reynolds dismiss' it and puts his sword away. Cut to the beach, Aaron sits next to Reynolds, with the small chest inbetween.

how should it end? I don't want to be cliche..

and input on the outline can be made as well

thanks,
zacatac

Alright!

You should definitely budget the money well. It's sooo hard to get funding if you're an independent filmmaker. If i was you (10 grand limit) I would spend a couple thousand on costumes and props, three thousand on renting some video equipment (wireless mics for sure, plus the XL2 is a great DV camera...I love it Image

Or go for this handy HDV cam Image

Then use the other 5 thousand if you need additional equipment, hired actors, or for distribution later on.

(Hey, kids in theater doing nothing over the summer...a couple hundred or so can make 'em act for you...)

Let us know how funding and the project in general is goin'

Ok, well I am scheduled to go sailing Lake Erie this Sunday. I will be getting some footage for a Battle of 1812 doc at school. I doubt you will need anything, but if so, let me know and I will get some specific footage.
