What kind of blur do you want?

If its antialiasing to get rid of the jaggies, then bryce can do that.

If its another type of blur, let me know what kind and i can probably do it in Photoshop.

This is gonna sound nuts but er, In fact Zac please dont kill me lol but by amazing coincidence we too (in scotland) have been planning a similar pirate film - ie a ship sinks and 2 blokes are stranded!!

However we possibly have the deck of the HMS Discovery http://community.iexplore.com/photos/jo ... 140043.jpg (perhaps part of its deck may be useful despite it being a very different kind of ship to those brigs and 17th and 18th century ships (ie 1600s and 1700s)

So Kene if you would be interested in helping us with a bit of 3d that would be cool too!

(I can start a new thread or we could make this one the er pirate epic thread zac and both post up to you mate - though id be happy to help you too if you want to help us too lol)

Well I'll shoot it at 720p on the HVX200, and for costumes (yikes) i'll get some bits and bops together and hope for the best - ive got a few swords and maybe get some of the die cast metal flintlock pistol toy (the 1:1 scale ones.)

I'd intend to make it professional but yeesh it'll be a challenge finding what props/items are available!

Id love to have some colonial soldiers that the 2 survivors are having to hide from!

Ok, i'm back!
So Kene if you would be interested in helping us with a bit of 3d that would be cool too!
If you can find a 3d model of the ship online, I can most likely animate it for you. I'm rather new with 3D, and have more experience with animation and customization, rather than creating from scratch, so there's no way I could make it for you. But other than that, get me the 3D model and I'll do it.

Zac, here ya go!

Each pic is a full quality, max anitaliased picture. Each picture took 30 minutes to create. Bryce creates 3D animation by creating a picture, then moves on to the next frame and makes another pic, so if you want, say, 10 seconds of high-res 30 fps animation, with a sky and sea involved, it will take days. Probably you want it green or blue screened for keying, so that will be easier. Anyways, enjoy! (and let me know what changes you want, and also will ou be filming in 16:9 or 4:3?)

yeah, i know 3d, it sucks with rendering, when i had my illegal copy of Lightwave, i spent days rendering... but now ive gone legal..

i like the shots... but i mean i don't know it its the model or Bryce... it still give that 3d look to it... try a different lighting setup, it may help... and yeah ill just be taking the composite of the 3d and rendering it into the footage... and the final outcome of the film will be anamorphic widescreen, so you can export in in 16X9 and ill chop off bits as i need it...

The top two are about as realistic as it gets, but I'll see what I can do...

will it really matter, if you're seeing the ship a mile away sinking from shore?

Probably because Bryce is $100, a starting 3D program, too.

I work with Bryce 6.0.

Version 5.5 is free now, if anyone wants to work with it.

I would but they are over 30MB, and even gmail can't handle files that large.

Do you have a storage site, so I can send them to you that way?

I'm not sure if you know what I'm talking about, but if you can find some HDRI images at sea, that would improve the realism.

email me what i need to know to upload it at Ryan3078@gmail.com

the ship is an obj file, I'll just upload the base first, which is everything but the sails and accessories.

I found some HDRI pics, which I'll use. Basically its a 360 picture of an area that is used to create realistic lighting by using the light from the actual photo.

That should up the realism a bit.

Here we go. More realistic?

This one took around 2 hours to render

the second one is really nice... alot better, but another suggestion, which really won't matter for my film, try and dirty up the water a bit, give it a greenish color... foggy

Image

thats cape cod water

Reaaally bad attempts

wow. that actually looks pretty good.

I can give you some greenscreen pics of the ship if you want to use them for tests.

I'll do some too.

I'll also work on the water, that was just unedited basic water.

considering the fact that it was just put in the pic, it looked realistic enough to pass as real, is what i meant - not the actual combination of pics, the way they looked real enough

hey, kene those look awesome...

are you able to work in the bones of the structure and bend them? like maybe having the masts falling down, ropes breaking?

the last image ^^ thatnwould be awesome for the way the ship goes down, a 20 second animation would be aweomse, but for the camera angle, try sea level looking on the starboard side...

maybe but I doubt it would look very real. i have have the individual parts move around, but I cannot really make them change shape or form (as would be necessary for realistic ropes snapping.

Most likely the best I can do at this time is have it slowly sink. lol.

Do you want a full sideways shot for the starboard?

Once you get your clip uploaded I can start work on different ways of sinking.

Ok, I posted on Bryce's website as for the ship breaking apart while sinking. If there's a way, I'll find it!
