No-Budget Pirate Movie

Post by Zacatac927 »

Thats what im working on right now, and before you say i'm a moron, i know what im doing, i have an authentic Pirate Long boat, like the row boat they all have on the ships... its painted, so i'll need to sand it off, i have 2 motorboats to film the Sea Sequence, i have a deserted island i'm allowed to shoot on, and have cookout's on after each day of shooting...

I have some costume pieces, ill be getting the rest when i get a script.

The story follows two pirates stuck on the long boat just after the big pirate ship went down. It has humor but also action and Drama, its in the same genre as POTC, but maybe a little more serious... they find land and stuff happens, im working out a script as we speak... But i will want help with some things.

If anyone wants to help right a script, you've always wanted to make a pirate script. Here's Your Chance.

CGI, i maybe wanted to see the big ship sinking, which i know alot of you could do on here, you guys are wicked talented...

but most of all you support ill need, this would be kinda big, medium crew, two-three actors. I could possibly get the food donated and everyone would work for free

So this is what i want to do

My group just downloaded an 1800's era brig for use in a Battle of Lake Erie 1812 CGI scene.

If you can use it I can help

Sounds extremely intriguing, and I would be uber-interested in helping.

I'm pretty sure I'm filming most of it but I'd think you would need the actual boat for a 3d rep of it sinking.

In addition to helping write a script, I would also be interested in working on the musical score if you need a composer. I've got some riffs and such in my head for a pirate score.

yeah, just for those who don't know me and DEDFX, he thought at first it wasn't going to happen...

Kene, those ships look beautiful, to shoot the CGI, ill lock down a camera on the beach for you, not much tracking would have to occur, the reason behind this is pretty much because i can't stand 3d water, yet, but that would be awesome if you could help

Kult FIlms, if you want to write anything down, music or script wise, that would be awesome, if you have any more questions about my idea of the story, feel free to email me...

reduxen@gmail.com

Smokey, that would also be awesome if you could help with some of the SFX work.. i may need some muzzle flashes for muskets, and since i don't have an firing ones, i would love your help with SFXing them

anyone can email me, ill check it often, cause i have nothing else to do besides write a script...

yeah, originally, I wanted them higher, but my historical documentary adviser said not to.

The ship is based off of the US brig Niagara in our film, and she was a very low riding ship.

Image Image

So accurate for ours, but for yours you probably will want it higher up.

So when you get your shot done, see if you can upload a full quality copy and I'll get on that.

Will you just want the ship sinking, or is it smoking as well? That will take longer.

I'd prefer to do it with the sails furled, b/c I can't animate the sails collapsing as it sinks.

But its up to you my friend.

that ship is riding low, and if someone told you it was right, they were wrong... but whatever...

it reality the movie opens as the last 5-10 feet of the ship go under... so not much to deal with. It wasn't in a battle it just started sinking (you know how they are) maybe it hit a reef, maybe the gunpowder blew a hole in it... once i get a shot out and an idea of what happened

(remember i just started writing all these ideas of mine 2 days ago)

ill tell you...

thanks kene

lookie here:

not to argue, just to prove that its a low rider.

Maybe in some of my pics it was a little lower than it should be, but I'll fix that for the 1812 project.

but ok.

let me know if you want it sinking with the masts sliding under or the hull, bottoms up when you figure that out :D

If you mean the pic with "sails extended" then yes, i've got that. tell me what you want for color schemes and I can get some test pics out to you quickly.

If you mean the medusa pic, I haven't got that.

I assume you mean the hull.

Well, I'm off to switch computers now. I'll be back with it in a half hour or so.

the hull? i know my ship parts.. i was practically born on the ocean... if you misunderstood, or i mis wrote, i mean the entire body of the ship, all the wood, give it a darkish brown/black unsanded look

and for lack of a picture, this is the small boat i have... about 10 feet?

ok.

so do you want every object on the ship to have the same texture and color? or if you want I can give you a list of the different objects and you can give a general color that you'd like.

A)Image

B)Image

C)Image

or none of the above?

quick renders, so sorry for quality drop

didn't mean to insult or anything like that, just trying to get it all clear - I'd rather not spend time modifying the ship's colors beyond what you want - It'd be a waste of my time and yours.

sorry, no worries... ok i like the second texture the most, maybe have the lighter brown in the texture be darker...

and could you do a high res render? i mean maybe with some blur, because these ships look ultrareal, bryce does that but if you could give the image a blur, that'd be great...

and thanks for all your help kene555
